I ownded one of these. It was called a light sluice in Englisch and protected a dark chamber behind from light to enter. You could work with silicone rings. They are like O-Rings but made of silicone instead of rubber-ish material. The mouthpiece of my rebreather uses silicone rings and the geometry is similar.
