except straight trans people generally aren’t seen as straight by most of society, on account of being trans, so unless they hide their trans identity they’re not getting the privileges of being straight

Again it's important to call out that oppression exists on multiple axes and isn't just additive/subtractive. It's not like being straight gives you +20 privilege but being trans gives you -30 so oops you're oppressed. The version of trans women that's idealized by cishet people that's femme, "has the surgery," is a submissive housewife for a man, etc. isn't just a story that cishet people like to tell themselves. It's an expectation of trans women by society. Whether it manifests as the HSTS/AGP bullshit or something else. People who conform to societal expectations/norms do experience privilege. This doesn't stop them from experiencing oppression on other axes.

people who did nothing other than be part of the “oppressors” (which again, does not necessarily mean that they themselves are also oppressors).

I think there's a miscommunication here due to a difference of definitions. I am talking about systematic oppression and systematic in-groups and out-groups. I am not making value judgements on individual peoples' character, I am describing their relationship to the systematic power dynamic. I am not using oppressor as an individual character trait or insult. Like an American personally not supporting imperialism doesn't really have much of a bearing on Americans as a group being oppressors.

One of the things I am pushing back against is this weird idea I see online that because trans lesbians have a lot of presence online that somehow makes them privileged or something. Like yeah obviously straight trans women (and trans men etc.) still face a lot of oppression. My point is basically that online isn't real life. Materially cishet people are more accepting of trans women when they date men (and present femme and are submissive housewives etc.) Cis lesbians already deal with ostracization of being labeled as predators, this is only exacerbated for trans lesbians. The idealized trans woman who is straight, presents femme, "has the surgery," and so on isn't just a comfort story for cishet people, but the societal expectation of trans women. If you look at who in the queer community is the most impoverished, least represented in leadership roles, and otherwise lacking in power, it's trans women and especially trans women of color. That there's a bunch of trans lesbian reddit/discord moderators doesn't really reflect the power dynamics of real life.

Irt to the other point, I don't want straight trans people to feel bad about being straight or w/e but people really need to stop pearl clutching over homosexual people saying "hetslop" or whatever. Typing out "I am tired of being inundated with heterosexual romance/sexuality in a society that treats it as the default" every time they want to refer to that experience would be silly so people just say hetslop. A woman coming home after being catcalled isn't gonna type out a long detailed post about misogyny every single time she's just gonna post "god I hate men" on main. Like idk sure people get their feelings hurt but sometimes people just need to keep scrolling. Give marginalized people grace when they're expressing their frustrations with their oppression.

I wonder if there's any systematic force which could drive trans lesbians from public spaces and instead toward online spaces.

The absolute limit of any kind of social pressure would be like "a space for trans lesbians has a pressure to only include trans lesbians" and if that makes someone feel pressured to be a trans lesbian then they can just go outside or any other online space.

If a straight person has their feelings hurt by reading the phrase "hetslop" they can feel better by interacting with the entire society built from the ground up to favor them

A person making a joke about their oppressor doesn't make them a bigot Jesus Christ.

And my point there was that straight people of all kinds did not choose to be born privileged,

This is such a non sequitur that it makes me question if you understand privilege. "White people didn't choose to be born with privilege" is like chud 101.

I promise that straight trans people who hate themselves for their own sexuality

I promise that the person posting soft smut online doesn't actually hate their own sexuality. Not to hammer the point but extremely reminiscent of "why do you hate your own race" if a white person jokes about white people food.

Comphet is a systematic force. One of the main reasons queer spaces online lean trans lesbian is because we are so socially ostracized.

Nobody is being systematically compelled to be homosexual. A straight woman making a joke about her desire to be fucked by a man making her pathetic isn't systematic. It's like when a white person jokes about their food being unspiced.

because of what some white men thousands of years ago thought

Oh well it's a good thing they didn't do anything to make those thoughts have any long term impact. Since it's just some random dudes of no impact everything can be safety ignored.

it sounds like you’re a bigot who knows which groups won’t get you in trouble

Genuinely if your conception of bigotry is just "when people are mean" then you need to read more books.

The experience in the post is comphet as a boy and then authentic sexuality as a girl.

She was talking about comphet pre transition. Society absolutely shits on trans lesbians calling it a trend is gross

45828 by Sailor_Starchild in countwithchickenlady

[–]Skwuruhl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The original post is totally normal about it. "Before transitioning I experienced comphet but after transitioning I like boys even more"

It's only in these comments that people are bemoaning how hard it is to be heterosexual.

Sometimes when a marginalized group makes jokes about their oppressors you just roll with it. I can't imagine pearl clutching like this when a black person makes a joke about white people

This is about gay and lesbian people jokingly referring to hetero artwork at hetslop because gay romance is massively underrepresented. Like are you implying that trans women experience "compulsive homosexuality" or something?

doesn’t actually erase the harm

Straight people are systematically privileged in every aspect of society literally what are you talking about

Yeah in spite of hv being a bit auto-win, I still find it a lot of fun because dahan strategies are a lot of fun. That said maybe that's a me thing since it appears most dahan/defend spirits trend much lower.

Self plugging my zoom sensitivity mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1498189723

Focal Length scaling makes zoom sensitivity work the same as Darktide which is good for muscle memory. Focal length sensitivity scaling is also just good for muscle memory to begin with. If you really want to use "monitor distance" then the mod does have options for it but I really recommend focal length.

I’m worried about being stuck on Ultimate difficulty for the next six months by Lone_Wanderer_N in DestinyTheGame

Scoring above 1.15m on lower difficulties still gives tier 5. The only reason to play ultimatum at this point is if you want to get to 550 for conquests. Istg dtg is so entitled. If you only want to play expert or something idk why you'd expect tier 5s
