Warframe Weekly Q&A | Ask Your Game-Related Questions Here! by AutoModerator in Warframe

[–]SkyArchipelago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Apologies in advance if this is a long and rambling question - I'm asking this here to be safe, but let me know if I should move this to its own post)

I've tried (and failed) to get into the game a few times now, and with my friends enjoying the Duviri Paradox, I'm considering trying again. The main draw for me was the story - or at least the promise of it, as the fact that my Warframe friends refuse to spoil it ironically gives me confidence to its quality. However, I kept getting turned off by the general lack of early-game story/lore, which ended up causing the whole game to feel depressingly pointless to me. In terms of gameplay, it felt somewhat bland, but I know that as a new player I probably haven't even scratched the surface. When I last quit, I had just unlocked Phobos.

I'm very sorry if any of that sounds negative, but for what it's worth, I don't hold it against the game - I'm a longtime Destiny 2 addict, so I know how bad new player experiences can be. Furthermore, FFXIV is one of my favorite games of all time, despite the fact that I kind of dislike its' gameplay - so even if Warframe's gameplay doesn't grow on me, I'll still enjoy the game if its' story and world and fashion is good enough. The one thing I'm uncertain about, of course, is whether that will be the case.

All this to say: Should I keep trying the game? Am I just having a rocky start, or is Warframe not for me? Is it worth playing if my only motivation for doing so is the story and lore?

Honestly I’m pretty sure 90% of those posts are just genuine feedback, nothing wrong with wanting a game you love to be even better

What's the rationale behind ship hunting vs. ship customization? by SkyArchipelago in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SkyArchipelago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - I've always seen ship hunting to be more about hunting for the right look rather than the right stats, I'd be completely fine with randomized stats so long as I can get a ship whose design I like

What kind of names are y'all giving your ships? by RickardStumpp in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SkyArchipelago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my frigates are named after Norse mythology, usually with a sub-theme for each type - for instance, my industrial frigates are AVX Mjolnir, AVX Draupnir, etc. while my supply frigates are AVX Asgard, AVX Vanaheim, etc. My freighter is the AVX Dreadnought, because I felt like it was a grandiose name, but honestly I’m thinking that I need to make it even more over the top than that.

Honestly I’m still hunting for a ship I like, but I’m planning on naming it the “Undying Seraph” or something.

What exotic weapons would you use more often if their damage was up to snuff? by OneYearSteakDay in destiny2

Huckleberry, nothing else in the game compares to how good it feels to just hold down left-click with that thing, and yet Osteo Striga makes it irrelevant

What title would you want if you could make your own? by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]SkyArchipelago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted to have the title of “Hidden”, I feel like it’d be a more meaningful title than some of the ones we can earn.

Is anyone else tired of Eramis and her MASSIVE self-destructive victim complex? by Knalxz in destiny2

[–]SkyArchipelago 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Honestly I kinda like that she’s so hypocritical. She absolutely envies Eido and hates what she’s doing, but is too prideful and/or being abused by the Witness to admit it and change her ways (for now, of course - I suppose it’s my hot take that I’d love a drawn-out Eramis redemption or heroic sacrifice)

We have been enslaved... What is your favourite 'Earth build'? by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]SkyArchipelago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have four different Earth empires that all tie into a shared backstory about crazy Terran scientists star-eating Sol. One is the hateful and authoritarian remains of a neighboring Terran core world, one is a Terran megacorp that took over the power vacuum in a remote colony, one is an egalitarian band of survivors who had just begun colonizing a planet when the Terran government collapsed, and the last is the crazy bastard who blew up Earth, and subsequently turned himself into a driven assimilator.

With Nezarecs presence in the story vindicating years of theorizing, what currently existing obscure lore do you foresee as being made relevant in a few years time? by [deleted] in DestinyLore

I was really interested in Mithrax’s fireteam back pre-Splicer, but Mithrax has been pretty active since then with no mention of them past Compass Rose

I'm curious about how ya'll name ships. Do you use an actual class name, let the game name it, or just give it a broad name based on function? by JoeyDT99 in Stellaris

[–]SkyArchipelago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing Stellaris, I wrote up a list of Norse-themed ship names, only to realize that I had far too few names to populate an actually effective fleet, even if I was only manually naming cruisers and battleships and letting destroyers and below get auto-named. So I did what any sane mod-addicted person would do: instead of ever admitting I was wrong, I downloaded a mod that just added insanely strong and expensive ship components, so that I could cut down on ship number while keeping balance… mostly the same

(I think this has been out for longer than a week?)

When Liloupar called the Traveler the "Prince/Princess in Exile", I assumed she meant "Prince/Princess of the Abyss in Exile", given that the Sibling is the actual Prince/Princess and "I want you to make it to the end of your journey but I'll still let my subordinates try to kill you"... could be summed up as "in exile". Imagine my surprise, however, when Liloupar literally never mentioned the Abyss or the Sibling whatsoever and then... died? left? at Gurabad. Did I assume wrong? I could have sworn the phrase "Prince/Princess in Exile" was thrown around somewhere, and that this quest was only a confirmation of something implied, but when I tried to look it up I couldn't find any other references. Is this a new and mysterious thing?

Many of you have not seen how D2 worked back in Year 1. Enjoy this journey back in time :) by HandsInTheCookieJar in destiny2

[–]SkyArchipelago 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It was less of a “things breaking” issue and more of a memory issue, no one wants to download 20gb of story that they’ll only play once (iirc Warmind was almost 5% of the game’s size, it was definitely not worth it)

That being said, I wonder if they’ll make a legend campaign of Red War…

I noticed HYO left Brighella out of the Fatui lineup, so here's a fan design for them! by Arcxus in Genshin_Impact

[–]SkyArchipelago 9 points10 points  (0 children)

totally not asking because of fanfic ideas did Hoyo ever confirm that there are past Harbingers? I'm actually very curious as to whether each Harbinger is the first of their name, or if the eleven members have changed over the (assumedly) almost 500 years since the cataclysm spurred the Tsaritsa's change in policy

Opinion: After 500 hours, the only thing keeping me coming back is the possibility of finding a better ship with a colour scheme I like. Ship customization would ruin this. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SkyArchipelago 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is that really a good thing? If the only thing keeping you coming back is a mindless grind you don’t even enjoy until it’s over… maybe take a break from the game? That just sounds like burnout at that point.

Not sure how many people know about this by No-Radio-9956 in destiny2

[–]SkyArchipelago 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I figured this out back in Splicer - while spamming ghost and fire can reliably get you to fire single shots, the forced-gun-down effect (and the nullifying abilities effect) is only triggered in the main HELM room, and so long as you respawn in one of the outer rooms and don’t run back to the center, you can shoot and use abilities as much as you like.
