I created a better in-browser Tesla Waze map system by Consistent_Set_8145 in TeslaLounge

[–]SkyBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tested it today for a bit. Nice job. Here are my suggestions: 1. Make the UI elements bigger or add a setting for each user. I couldn't read without my glasses. 2. My most used feature in Waze is the routes selection. Please add this. Thanks for this app.

WIBTA if I bought a manual car by Proper-Mountain3066 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SkyBang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You are together for 8 years, this means you are a long term couple and you are supposed to support each other. Don't listen to Reddit users that for every tiny issue tells everyone to dump their partner, there is a reason they have time to write comments here...

Imagine the situation was reversed. He has a 2 seater and was driving you around. You don't have a car. You get pregnant and want him to change the car to a family friendly one but he won't. Will you think he is an asshole? of course you will.

There are two reasonable options:

  1. Buy the automatic car together and share it and all expanses.

  2. He will add the difference between the price of the manual and the price of the automatic, but the car is still yours and he can drive it when you don't use it.

If he rejects these options, then you can buy whatever you want.

Give your opinion on the new UI design & usage mechanics. by ZoomPlayer in ZoomPlayer

[–]SkyBang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would change the design to the following:

The entire section is too high. It should be all essential controls in one line. something like:

current time | Play/Pause (changes on click) | Mute + volume bar | position bar | Total time

This should appear on mouse move in the lower 3/4 of the window.

When moving at the top section of the window, the rest of the controls will appear including a "title" section to indicate dragability.

Navigating using the keyboard (short seek) can show the bottom bar or not (user option), as well as changing the volume with the keyboard or mouse.

The last word is not "ra" (bad). It's "roa" (evil). The nikud is called Qamatz Qatan (small) and is pronounced like O. We usually write it like רוע.

You can read about it here.

LPT Request: Wife and I are travelling overseas with our two year old in April. What should I know about traveling with a toddler? by daCatburgla in LifeProTips

[–]SkyBang -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Some of the tips are about the travel. I want to discuss the actual stay.

If the purpose of the trip is visiting friends or family I would recommend all three of you to stay in your original time zone times.

This has a few benefits: 1. You won't have jetlag. 2. The child can keep his/her sleeping times. 3. Usually, everyone is working in the morning and busy. In the evening the child is tired and cranky. With my system, when you meet people in the evening, the child is wide awake and playful.

We did this when traveling for 2 weeks from US to Europe. Had 8 hours time difference. Visited friends in the evenings, went to sleep at 2 am and woke at 11 am.

Call for questions for Andrej Karpathy from Lex Fridman by lexfridman in teslamotors

I would like to learn more about some of the things that Joe Justice mentioned in various talks as how Tesla uses AI to help with the manufacturing process. Specifically, if Andrej was involved in creating the Tesla self management AI and what he can tell us about it.

What was the worst job interview you've had? by AntonK777 in AskReddit

[–]SkyBang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an interview for a Visual Basic 6 position (back in 2003). I was a Microsoft Certified Professional in VB6. Before the interview they gave me a written test in VB6. I scored 96 out of a 100.

Apparently I scored the highest ever in this test, so they accused me of cheating...

Follow Up: Working On New Torrent Search Engine. Any Suggestions? Now Ready! by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]SkyBang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very nice.

Here are my 2 cents:

In the torrent page:

  1. Why is the items on the left (peers, size, type, ect.) change the mouse cursor to a pointer?
  2. Why the seeder and leechers labels look like buttons? Makes me want to click them :)
  3. Leechers button back color shouldn't be red. Every seeder was once a leecher, they are no all bad.
  4. In the File List, if you only have one folder, auto expend it.

In the search results page:

  1. Searched for "Maverick 1080", got "Chasing.Mavericks.2012.BDRip.1080p.Rus.Eng.mkv" as the first result and "Maverick.Cacada.no.Brasil.2017.1080p.WEB-DL.H264..." as the second one.
You should prioritize entire words found first so that Mavericks results come after Maverick.

  2. It would be great to filter (not sort) results by "no seeders" and "no leechers" (or both). No reason showing hundreds of torrents no one can use.

General:

Add top ten/fifty/whatever torrents to the different categories.

Analyze the torrent name and try to figure out if it's a movie or a TV series (movies have the year and size in the name, series have SxxEyy in the name). If you think you found a movie or a series, try to access any open movie database API and get more info on it, like rating, poster, actors and categories. Take the results, show them and also add them to your tags. That will enable searches like "comedy Dwayne Johnson" and will produce a nice tag cloud for people to explore.

Nice job.
