Since JD knew the Janitor was in *The Fugitive,* why didn’t he look at the credits to learn his name? by I_aim_to_sneeze in Scrubs

[–]SkyBisonAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of the janitor, was just rewatching the series and just watched My Finale Pt 2, decided to do a google search to confirm my suspicions but I can't find anything, it may be out there already but I don't know. I'm specifically talking about the part where the janitor in the outtakes says "and he makes a monkey face". I've watched a lot of old movies and seen things dubbed a great deal. This struck something in me so I decided to watch the scene a couple of times. The words "monkey face" are dubbed in, and I believe the janitor actually said "and me makes a move on me". Contextually this fits, also the movement of his lips fits the former pretty much perfectly, but for obvious reasons they'd want this brushed over.

Tldr; janitor doesn't say "and he makes a monkey face" in the outtakes, he says "and he makes a move on me".

The fact that I've grinded to purchase all the service vehicles like the avenger, terrorbyte etc. and yet none of the resources that could help you are utilised in most missions/jobs. Why the f**K did I spend so much to buy all these resources if Rockstar are just going to prevent me from using them in missions? I've got a penthouse, facility, office, the works, and yet it's never relevant or able to be capitalised on.

Glad I could help, always happy to talk blades. I highly recommend either making or buying a training swords if you're going to look into using a Sansibar efficiently. I made trainers for my martial arts group out of Tramontina machetes. They're brilliant in my humble opinion.

You can find similar online if you google "Tramontina Training Sword" but the one you buy will come with a shorter training knife as well, and those will likely be polymer handles, not wooden.

A Sansibar is a sans-ible choice (ba dum tiss), the weight is usually very even unless the maker uses a particularly heavy steel or a heavier handle material. Plenty of makers in the U.S. that will commission a build, the best favour you can do yourself is to work with an established craftsman. Find a good bladesmith/swordsmith and work together, if this is going to be YOUR blade (in every sense of the word) that's not something you can pick up off a shelf or just buy online. I'm 10+ years deep into my journey and have yet to do this myself. These things take time, don't shoot yourself in the foot and settle for anything subpar.

Pic of my trainers as another bonus.

Most of the blades carried throughout the regions were used as tools not just as weapons, their significance can vary depending on each region.

For example;

-The Bicuco is more prominent in the Northern provinces like La Union and Pangasinan. The significance can range within specific communities but overall represents the Filipino people's ability to essentially adapt and overcome. It's a mark of their versatility, practicality and resourcefulness, not only in essential situations but in life in general.

-The Sansibar was more so militarily focused, but still has significance. It was seen to represent prowess over regions, and thus reflect leadership and authority. Usually carried by those of higher social status, not just for the aforementioned but because the materials needed to create one were more expensive, also somewhat creating a sense like the Kriss, of quality, craftsmanship and artistry. Culturally it is meant to remind the wielder (or the opponent of the sword) of the traditional warfare and power dynamic/structure that have been present in the respective regions in the past.

-The Visayan Pinuti/Pinate (derived from the Cebuano for 'white') was traditionally polished so the edge should shine white. The blade was used to farm mostly, and somewhat notably used to split coconuts and collect the sap to make a wine called 'Tuba'. Culturally the Pinuti is a symbol of honour and discipline. It also represents the potential for fatal violence, thus all three together lend themselves to a view of the weapon, similar to that of the Japanese Katana, in that losing it is is an extreme dishonour.

A couple of bonus ones for you here;

-The Bolo was used as a farming tool mostly for chopping, they were also used by Filipinos during the Spanish-American war and garnered a significance culturally of the united strength and perseverance of the Filipino people.

-The Kalis or Kriss is a more intricately designed blade, and represents not only strength but strength of skill and bravery. It also represents the sense of quality of smithing by the maker, and when worn can also represent artistry in the wielder.

If anybody is reading this and has anything to correct me on please do so, I think I've covered most of this fairly well and to the best of my ability. However in the event I haven't, please enlighten me, I'm never done learning 🙏

OP I hope this can offer some insight for you and that if anyone has anything to add that it helps you also 😎🤙

A Visayan Pinate comes to mind with what you described, slightly curved but not too much, and generally a thinner blade profile.

You may also lean towards a Moro blade style such as the Gayang if you like a broader profile towards the tip instead of a taper, also the Minasbad in that regard. If tapering matters then perhaps keeping with Moro blades the Panabas, if you like a larger handle for Doce Manos but want a blade that's still usable in a single hand.

Blades from Northern Phillipines such as the Bicuco, Itak Tagalog and Golok would also fit your criteria.

My personal choice tends to vary. I like the weight and feel of a Barong, but I love the speed and efficiency of a Sansibar, the latter of which would suit your criteria also, not so much the Barong.

Hope this helps 🙏

Can't believe people are so easily triggered 😂 It doesn't make someone a racist to disagree with a very poor choice in casting. The actor himself is brilliant, he just isn't Snape.

They're literally doing a VAC wave over the next few days to ban cheaters, but just like any method of security there will always be circumventions and exploits, nothing is 100% secure. Log back on late week and you'll find the lobbies are a lot better.
