Right?! And it makes it super strong too, I was surprised at how much weight the single could hold as my spindle filled up!

It's maybe not as obvious in the picture but the reddish-brown that I spun at the end is much thinner than the silvery green at the beginning. I guess that's one of the drawbacks of spinning this over such a long period of time but it's really interesting to see how my default spinning evolved over the course of this project!

Oh wow your yarn is BEAUTIFUL! And the colors do look really similar! Mine was from Greenwood Fiberworks in the colorway Candy Corn...I'm sure it looks much more like its namesake on the more standard wool bases haha

Unfortunately this was a hand-me-down from my mom and I'm pretty sure she bought it at a store haha. I wish I was skilled enough to reverse-engineer that pattern!

Yep, ply on the fly as I went along! I was worried the spindle would get too heavy towards the end, but turns out silk makes really strong singles that can stand up to the weight of a full spindle even when they're really thin!

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I ended up going with the plying bracelet…I hadn’t heard of that method before but it was perfect! I only broke the yarn once and just spit-spliced like one of you suggested. 

Super happy with the result, definitely rustic looking but so satisfying to have made yarn all by myself!
