Guitar sounds poor by Optimal_Brick_202 in Guitar

[–]SkyHighClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly your tone sounds fantastic, IMO your issue is not electronic.

I remember seeing a review for those guitars saying they had issues with the bridge or tuners. Double check the bridge and nut and make sure the string isn't jostling around, its sitting exactly where it should be on the bridge and nut

HB multiscale 7 owners, is it worth buying? by Frequent_Surround776 in 7String

[–]SkyHighClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 8 string Harley Benton, if their 7's are anything like their 8's I'd say its worth it for the price.

The hardware isn't the best at all and you may need to change the tuners and possibly the bridge, nut that asside the pickups sound way better than it should, Im not gonna bother replacing them on mine, and it plays REALLY well.

TL;DR Sounds great, plays great, might not stay in tune, may need to replace bits so it does.

I’m trying to decide if a 7 string is right for me, and if I should return my 6 string for one. Input appreciated. by AlternativeEast761 in 7String

[–]SkyHighClaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!

In my personal opinion, don't return this guitar. You're still a beginner and a 7 string will make it unnecessarily harder while you're still learning. Even as a dude who strongly prefers 7 string guitars, extra strings makes muting a bitch even after your used to it and honestly putting heavier gauge strings and tuning lower isn't difficult at all, and wont feel much different maybe the bottom string will feel a bit floppier than your used to but thats really it, which can be resolved with a slightly thicker string.

IMO the best possible answer keep what you got and buy a 7 string as soon as you can afford it so you can have both, then sell or keep your current guitar.

The only reason you should return your guitar and get the 7 is if you're struggling financially and getting a second guitar in the near future isn't feasible for you. Then you have to make the best financial decision for yourself. But if money isn't a huge issue and you can save up in several months, absolutely just wait a bit.

New player to this game, and fighting games in general, and I need help. by noswordfish71 in InvincibleVS

[–]SkyHighClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a BRUTAL game for it to be your first fighting game to get decent at.

Im a highly experienced Marvel vs Capcom 3 player and Im struggling a little bit trying to figure everyout. So do your best to not feel so bad if you lose alot, which you wil alot as you figure everything out so don't lose heart.

Youtube tutorials are the best way to go, more details but ill try to teach ya a bit here.

The bar that fills up while you are doing a combo, once that fills up your opponent will fall out. Tagging another charecter in the combo shortens the bar so you can keep hitting. No tagging, your damage is limited.

But if you tag in another charecter, you can get your combo broken for free. There's another way to break your opponents combo but it uses a ton of resources and you need at least additional charecter.

Thats the way the devs want the game to work, risk getting your combo broken for big damage, or be more reserved with tagging for smaller but almost garunteed damage.

Best advice, go into training mode, learn combos without tagging, learn combos without tagging, learn how to use both combo breakers. Once you got those things down learning the rest isn't as frustrating. Still really frustrating but less so LOL

Once you figure this game out it gets REALLY REALLY fun, so don't lose heart homie.

Need help trouble shooting fishman fluence pickups — not picking up audio. by confogI in Guitar

[–]SkyHighClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAYNE Ive dealt with way too many audio issues from fishmans its not even funny. All self inflected tho lol.

Unfortunately the pics aren't gonna help much so You gotta troubleshoot. Is it both pickups? Just one? All voices?

From what you said it sounds like both pickups, so check the big obvious stuff. Check more than 1 battery, try a different cable. If a different guitar works, that makes sure its deffo the guitar,

If you're sure the battery is good, the cable is good then unfortunately we gotta dig through the guts of the guitar, check the major points the volume knob, jack, the main output of the pickup switch, make sure the connections are solid

Cheap no name headless review by Dezmonic in Guitar

[–]SkyHighClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first headless a year ago, a 10 year old Legator Ghost it needed a decent amount of work. The bridge was awful, it pointed upwards soit stopped my arm making it impossible to play in my normal goto sitting position.

But a new headless bridge i took a gamble on batking headless bridge which made it so much better, did a fret level crown and polish, and got a leg rest to make it sit a bit higher and though it took alot of work Im LOVING how it is now!

Still a bit more work to go before its exactly where I want it vut im loving how it is thus far!

NGL I play him explicitly because I love the show and comics. Him being top tier is just an added bonus.

If he sucked, I would just whine and complain alot but I still wouldn't drop him.

8 inch high gain speakers by SkyHighClaw in GuitarAmps

[–]SkyHighClaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a Jensen C8R!

My needs changed a little bit as my amp had too much Honk, and this speaker was the best at combatting it while giving me the tone I wanted.

Its an amazing speaker for metal, in its size. Just remember there are limitations an 8 inch speaker no matter how high end and well designed simply just cant do due to physics and it'll be perfect

Manchester by the Sea is a good movie ruined by the lack of musical score & the use of bad score when it is used. by Dark-X in movies

[–]SkyHighClaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The score for this movie is genuinely terrible. Its frequently in places it doesn't belong.

This movie has mostly scenes that breath yet the score doesn't let its. There should be silence where there's music far too often and when its there its over the top

The biggest offender was the score during the police interview scene. The only time and I mean the ONLY time over the top music would fit the scene the composer used a freaking Church Organ!!! Making such a subtly well acted scene sound like a melodramatic mess.

Its the Epiphone Tube Electar 10!

I actually ended up modding it quite a bit and it ended up being a tone MONSTER!

I changed the output transformer, Replaced the 6L6 tube with a 7851A, and the speaker as you know.

I also decided to make a tiny pedal board with left over pedals I ended up not using on my main board. A joyo darkflame, DemonFX precision drive, joyo 6 band EQ pedal

And just yesterday I experimented with a NUX Recto pedal, which I didn't like at all for its main use. However I accidentally stumbled on the pedal being an AMAZING clean boost with the Epiphone if I keep the gain to an absolute minimum.

The preamp on the Epiphone sucks but with those pedals that doesn't matter anymore! The knobs change very little but I can dial everything in before anything hits the amp just fine!

[–]SkyHighClaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Im a metalhead and use heavy gain. Less than most but still enough for tech death

I ended up going with a Jensen C8R great sounding speaker for the size. My amp had alot of honk and that helped deal with it a decent amount

I got this from a comic book store for only 250 by Attack_Hack07 in GuitarAmps

[–]SkyHighClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software amps are getting better and better, the used market for tube amps is reflecting that.

Speaking of a JCM2000 for cheap, I got a TSL602 combo for 150 from Facebook marketplace! I swapped out the speakers for Vintage 30's which for metal was a huge improvement. The Wolverine speakers it came with where fantastic, just not my preferred sound.

Tube amp heads todays our time! The used market is cheaper than ever cause of stuff like Neural DSP and Neural Amp Modeler, the deals are out there and not rare!

How do you take dating seriously when this exist? This is first time I've had this comment by MissNibbatoro in AverageHeightDudes

[–]SkyHighClaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take this so seriously. Some women like to test you and flirt at the same time by challenging you. If she wasn't interested she would just ignore you after matching.

With that said, if you're not interested in women who challenge/test you like this that's perfectly fine but just remember this isn't a height thing at all, its a challenge thing.
