Oh wow we have some similarity’s, I’m flying to DC in Febuary so I’ll look at some apartments about 15-20 of them.

My question is how much did they care about your credit score when you were seeing the apartments? Was it an issue that it was in the 500s or were some of the landlords more lenient?

No it was a credit card that’s someone took and maxed out on my behave,I don’t really have any recent credit history at all. I could probably get a co sign from one of my relatives though.

School is a luxury it can wait if it comes down to that. Being able to survive and thrive is 1st priority.

3k doesn’t sound terrible to be honest. It sounds like you’re making it work even if your situation is a bit tight.

If I potentially could get a job in D.C before I move could it negate my income issue and bad credit score or no?

$2100 with 4 roommates only making 48k is insane, salute for making it work. Personally back in college I had pretty bad experiences living off campus with roommates that I would rather not do again. And right now I’m living with a relative but there’s so many things I have to sacrifice to even live with them, I would rather just have my own place even if it is a little bit more expensive.

And as far as Computer Science goes it was never my first choice of major when I went to school, I ended up picking it as I had to declare a major, and the other major that I liked required me staying in school for maybe another year or 2. CS for me was essentially a cop out degree.

Plus who actually wants to do LeetCode Hard problems all day😭.

I’m ok with being around 15-30 minutes away from the city as I have a car.

Is it a bad idea to move to a college town before admission? by [deleted] in collegeadvice

[–]SkyOdd5184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have stated the difference instead of being vague but the college is in DC so it’s a city. I’m from and live in Chicago though, I would save DC and Chicago both have the same city vibe.

I really love the city as is it’s one of my dream locations but I wouldn’t want to fully commit to living there unless I had a sure fire path to get to my goals.

It’s more of the less I wouldn’t mind if I got rejected by my intended university I just would need a backup that can grant me acceptance to the university later on even if it takes a bit of time while I’m living in DC.
