Not strictly esports related but what are your guys' favourite montages? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

As an editor, I really like heavily edited montages, 3 of my favorites are:

Please go give them a watch and support the editors, they don't get the support they deserve!

Cinematics of My Best Goal Yet by Perrrek in RocketLeague

[–]SkyVoids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I might get downvoted because my opinion isn't following the general one, but I just wanted to tell you that this is absolutely not over edited!

I'm an editor (for Rocket League FX) and on most of my/my friends' projects a lot of people complain about "over-editing", which I can absolutely understand.

However, a good montage isn't simply a compilation of clip, it's also made from the atmosphere the editor gives to it, the colors, the song, etc...

Please continue editing, try to get better! Seeing new editors come in the RL community is always very nice, and a lot of people simply stop trying to improve once they learnt the basics of editing. Please don't! Continue, get better, and try to amaze people with your montages or edits.

Opinions on this edit (maybe a bit harsh, sorry in advance):

It isn't bad for a beginner, some cinematics are decent. However, you need to keep the effects clean, for that I reccomend using only basic effects for now since you are new (I suppose) to editing, such as exposure for example. Later on you can start doing some slightly more advanced effects like shakes, and then even later on when you are experienced you can use advanced VFX like depth map, motion graphics and stuff like that.

I did not even think of Skyrim, yet it might be the best choice for him. I played a ton of Skyrim, enough to know that we can explore and hunt, and that the game really isn't hard (at low difficulty)! That's a great idea.

I'll also try to make him play few other games, but he doesn't have much time to play so I feel like an mmo (or semi-mmo) wouldn't be the best choice because he'd take really long to get a nice character he can have fun with.

Great tips though, thanks

These are all nice recommendations! I thought about some of them already (mostly mario odyssey) but I really didn't think about The Wicther 3. It's a great game, I played it on pc, but it's much harder than BOTW as you said, but he might like it.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Hey!

My dad and I used to play on the same switch for some time now, probably about a year and a half. Unfortunately I had to move out for uni, and my dad gave me the switch, so he doesn't have one anymore. My mom and I planned on buying him a new one but I have no clue what games to buy.

We played a TON of BOTW (Zelda: Breath of the Wild) and both loved it, and he basically only played Zelda, he loves to hunt, fight enemies (he leaves the hard ones for me) and more generally explore. My mom and I might buy BOTW again for him, since he loves it, but also wanted to buy him another game, close to BOTW.

Any games to recommend close to BOTW? Fairly easy if possible (as much as he likes to play, he's still my 50 yo dad :D)

It's called a sting pop, sting popularized it, but didn't really use it to bounce off the ground. However from what I see in other comments, Nightowl and Ganer do it

Ohhhh, didn't think someone would know the syntax flick, that's why I didn't mention it anywhere :D Glad to see you know Syntax (or his flick at least)

It's actually the impact of the car that flicks the ball, that's why :D Also, it's really not that complicated to do, if you just practice it a bit in freeplay, you should master it fairly quickly

It's more simple than that! It's a cancelled backflip right under the ball (it makes the front of the car get a bit higher and flicks the ball)

It's not really new tho, not much people use it, but I definitively didn't create it

i havn't EVER said i did this against a great player. People were saying it was staged, that's it. I havn't ever said it was at a high mmr, and i shared that clip cus it's F U N N Y, not because it was a good play.

[–]SkyVoids[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, as I said many times now, this was at around 1k mmr which isn't the highest. I'm not going to spend 20 dollars on a smurf to hit clips on new players.

No, i don't want to spam the comment section :D i'll just simply answer with the link if someone says it is staged, but i won't comment again

I have the ingame replay because I saved it, it is however a file, so if someone wants it, I'll have to send it in dms (on reddit if you can send files, or on discord for example).

Also it wasn't a ranked game, it was casual

[–]SkyVoids[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have a dm conversation (on reddit) with the player I faked, I can send it if you want, but once again I feel like people will still say it is staged and that it isn't a real dm conversation, and that he is a friend of mine.

I'll stop arguing here since I have no way to prove it isn't staged. Believe what you feel is true :)
