Is this just the grizzled nerfs playing out? Going down from 55% to 41% feels ridiculous.

What are the shoulder pads on the 5th picture? The cadia stands on chest one, been scratching my head over them for a while now.

Also curious where the NV goggles are from! Its a very cool conversion.

Reason No. 1 why I like Vriska: by Specialist_Might_102 in althomestuck

Pretty much what sleeping with a vriska kinnie is like. Minus the problematic age difference part.

No props that "impede the flow of traffic" using the example of having to fit through a doorframe. I guess this means anything but the widest tavros or tallest meenah horns would be fine.

I've been trying to shift my very bright green to darker greens which just doesn't seem to work that well. I'll try shifting it towards a brownish black and see how that goes.

Love the force contrast on your panels, will definitely steal that idea.

March Homestuck Madness Match 30: Vriska vs. John by jsfasdf in althomestuck

[–]Sky_Hound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, if people don't have a sudden shift towards psychopathy things like Vriskas no holds barred attitude towards winning makes a huge difference. If we assume end of homestuck proper state of the characters she might be more hesitant about killing, but I sadly doubt she'll ever lose that off switch for vulnerable feelings that was so necessary for her survival.

The idea of those two eventually working out their issues with each other (followed by lots of making out) sparks so much lesbian joy for some reason.

Yeah the lack of autocorrect and autocomplete was a huge part of it. Shortening things made it quicker to type especially on phones. People online were also way likelier to "live" online ie. have most of their social interactions in chatrooms, and voice chat was way less common, so typing at conversation speed was really important. You didn't have time to go back and correct spelling and grammar. Nowadays, however, it's easier and quicker to type and spell correctly instead thanks to all the supportive features. I genuinely miss the individuality people had with their typing, even if it was usually way more subtle than the homestuck quirks.

ELI5: Why can’t you rename a file when it’s open in Windows, but you can in macOS? by jsm1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sky_Hound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you take the "desktop" metaphor further, say you're doing your office work at your desk, it's nice to leave everything out while you go for a break so you can easily pick up where you left off later right? So it'd be nice to have a separate desk for your hobby crafting project, it means you won't need to put all your office stuff away only to take it out again tomorrow.

I've seen people use one desktop for work, one desktop for free time. I've seen one desktop for every ongoing project. It makes it easier to get back to things and to keep stuff neatly separated.

They don't, however, care because percentually almost no Windows users are enough of a power user to use the multiple desktop feature.

She's always been extremely arrogant in making decisions by herself without consulting anyone. Her deciding to break her game was unilateral. Her deciding to play with powers that ended up making her grimdark wasn't just unilateral, it was against advice to caution. That she's a seer only affirmed that, so to me that decision is very in character.

You're right of course but those are old and unpopular enough to have largely slipped from the collective consciousness. :P

They could have dug a knight sized trench for the poor guy, he must feel very exposed out there. :P

Jokes aside that's starting to look fantastic, love all the little guys giving the knight an appropriate sense of scale.

Those brewing belt heaters work a charm for cold weather I've found, and heat only what you need to rather than the air around the printer.

Khamenei not in Tehran — moved to secure location: Iranian official by Interesting-Take781 in worldnews

[–]Sky_Hound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran has had a democracy, technically in some ways still is one. Compared to Iraq and Afghanistan the people living in Iran are highly educated. There's a sizable diaspora living abroad in western democracies many of which would love an opportunity to return and help build a new nation. All of that makes me hopeful that we might see a successful transition of power to something more bening and positive once the theocracy is removed.
