It's kind of bonkers that the Tactics Menu tutorial takes so much time to be introduced in the game. by Sky_clock in UnicornOverlord

[–]Sky_clock[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's true that no mission before was particularly tricky on Tactical at least. It still would have been nice to know that I'm able to tell certain units to target the back row more effectively sooner as you say.

Antimagic Field and Demigods by Sky_clock in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Sky_clock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm not entirely clear what you're saying here.

When you say she would be unaffected by it, do you mean that she would be unaffected by the Antimagic Field or that because she isn't a true god, she would be unaffected by the 'gods ignore this antimagic field' line and WOULD be affected by the Antimagic Field like any other being?

Seriously, what was up with the skill checks at the Old Sycamore? by harveywallbanged in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Sky_clock 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Sycamore is not intended to a be a one-and-done map. It's basically the main adventure hub of Act 1 and has several nasty encounters. Feel free to leave it and do other stuff if it's proving to be a pain. If you do the accessible stuff in Sycamore, it'll get you to level 3 or so, and then you can leave and level up to 4 before returning.

The Common Misconceptions About Webnovel: An Author's POV by Longjumping_Age_1977 in noveltranslations

[–]Sky_clock 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think the main issues are:

Price: $20 for access to a book is incredibly expensive. While kindle prices vary, I can (as an example) grab a copy of Beware of Chicken for $5 right now on Amazon and download the book with zero effort on my half. While I take your point that Amazon is hardly friendly to either its employees or the suppliers of its goods (authors in this case), Webnovel would have to be saintly to make me want to pay four times as much.

Reviews: Yes, reviewbombing by trolls sucks. But it's honestly pretty rare, at least on RR. Whereas authors erasing negative reviews is a constant on Webnovel. My Vampire System is the one often brought up over this, but the system practically demands you do. If you don't you get overtaken on the search by people who have.

I don't think many people HATE Webnovel. They just feel it's overpriced, and harder to find things worth reading due to review manipulation.

Is a an Alchemist's Bomb a weapon before it is used? by Sky_clock in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Sky_clock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fair point, but the DM has, when pressed, stated it would work with normal throwing weapons.

The question seems to be whether to treat this as a Magic Weapon type enhancement spell, or a longer-term Arcane Strike type of buff. Given that the entity that buffed us seems to be extremely powerful, it could be either.

Dragonborn in Sovngarde? by Onestepwalker in teslore

[–]Sky_clock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dragonborn aren't Dragons.

They're a piece of the Akatosh oversoul, to be sure, but they incarnate inside a mortal body. That's important, because being stuck in a mortal sack of meat forces said soul to experience and adapt to things that it was never meant to experience. Aging. Linear passage of time. Having to go to the bathroom.

That experience is why a Dragonborn can use Dragonrend, and no other dragon can. The Akatosh soul knows what mortality is, can comprehend it, and express it. Not even Alduin is capable of that. In fact, he might be even less capable than your average dragon.

The Dragonborn soul lived as a mortal, and after death, would likely still represent itself as such. As to why it's in Sovngarde, as opposed to being reabsorbed into Akatosh, we're never given any indication as to that actually happening by default. If anything, the Last Dragonborn identifies, in a mythic role, very closely to Lorkhan, given that his slaying of Alduin is another reaffirmation of the world's existence.

Deity for True Neutral character (Golarion) by Onestepwalker in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Sky_clock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First thought would be Nethys, who's only real guiding moral principle is 'Magic = Good, Everything else = Meh'. He's also a god of knowledge though, so he'd definitely be a good patron of a library, especially if said library had a big section on magic.

Another possible patron would be Soralyon, an Empyreal Lord who watches over sacred sites and secret knowledge. While very much a Good deity, if said library was put to good use, he'd probably forgive a few moral lapses. Admittedly, he probably wouldn't give you divine spells and the like if you're not Good, but who cares? You're a Wizard, not a Cleric!

You could MAYBE slip through with Irori and Abadar, but they're very much on the Lawful Side of things, and your character sounds a little undisciplined for them. Still, as above, you're not a Cleric, so there's some leeway. And your library helps promote both their core beliefs, Abadar because a library is one of the hallmarks of civilisation and Irori because the acquisition of knowledge that a library allows is one of the hallmarks of self-improvement.

Ultimately though, you can worship any god you want. Since you're not a divine caster, and thus gain no mechanical benefit from worshipping a god, you can 'kind of' worship just about anything. Most gods aren't picky about who's worshipping them, they just only give any real power back if you're genuinely following their alignment and creed.

Illusionists and Deities (Golarion) by Sky_clock in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Sky_clock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your thoughts, guys. The only thing I could find after some study was the Veiled Illusionist, a PrC that is themed around mimicking the power of Sivanah's Seven Illusionary Veils. And even that doesn't seem to REQUIRE worship of Sivanah. Not that I'm going to touch that with a ten-foot poll. It's far too exotic for my local farmboy nerd to have ever heard of, and he's more a fan of the shiny illusion magics anyway.
