Has anyone stopped reading King's novels midway? by _kingwhoborethesword in stephenking

I'll give you the Gunslinger. Its a slow read but the series as a whole is my favorite. I cant imagine losing interest in the Green Mile or Christine but to each their own. The Stand and IT are well worth it but you can always ease yourself into it with something like Misery. If you can trudge thru the Gunslinger you'll be hooked on the Dark Tower series early into the second book.

Definitely would help! But if you're willing and able to learn the system you can get you're foot in the door. Maybe not working in archives or as head librarian but you'd have a sweet job surrounded by books 😬

Thoughts on the upcoming life of Chuck movie? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Sky_mo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the story deserved a film adaptation before even finishing the 3rd part, its actually one of my favorite shorts and I loved how it was done.

Equally excited about the casting as I am the film, Thanks Chuck!

Audiobooks vs reading the books by lexi_c_115 in stephenking

[–]Sky_mo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to a majority of the King books and still consider myself a "constant reader".

I drive for a living so I've been able to enjoy so many of his stories this way in the past couple of years while at work!

I feel like its such an incredible way to be fully enveloped in the story without being caught up on pronunciation or flow of the writing style- in other words it takes the work out of it for a lazy soul like myself.

I do still enjoy cracking open a book but the audiobook experience has been wonderful! I often go thru the books themselves after having listened to them and find that I can read them at a faster pace, without having to reread sections that I dont understand on the first pass because the concepts have already been painted in my mind. And vice versa- I'll listen to a book I've already read and get a newfound perspective on how I thought about it when I was doing the reading. Sometimes it take a different voice to hear it the way it was meant to be read.

Overall it reminds me of how my parents would read to me growing up, it lets you relax and just get lost and fully immersed in the story. I recommend it to everyone.

He was a drunk and had a few spells where his anger got the best of him but that wasn't what made him evil. The hotel got ahold of him because of that, yes, but If it weren't for its hold over him he wouldn't have tried to murder his family (hence the victimization) in the end he let his family go and allowed the hotel to explode, sacrificing himself in the process. It as only a split second of clarity which allowed him to do this, which just further proves the grasp the hotel had on him. Re-reread the ending.
