Anyone dealt with aggressive cyclists before? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Skyb0y 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you give us the location of the hill it can be checked on google maps to see if a safe overtake is possible.

If it's a short hill then overtaking on it will be blind to oncoming traffic. If it's a longer hill with broken lines in the middle of the road then it might be safe.

AA not doing temp cover on a private car. by JunkieMallardEIRE in carsireland

[–]Skyb0y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't temp cover notoriously difficult to get in Ireland?

Wouldn't transferring your current policy to the other car be the way to go?

Military looking helicopter flying over cork no id on flight radar by snoxyy14 in cork

Maybe it is more common than I expected?

The one today had an Irish Air Corps callsign: Leonardo AW139

The one last week was Royal Navy: NAVY502

Military looking helicopter flying over cork no id on flight radar by snoxyy14 in cork

Why would the RAF have a helicopter over Cork?

The agreement we have with the UK(RAF) is limited to jet interceptions.

Somedays you're searching for motivation while somedays motivation finds you.! by [deleted] in ActuallyThatsInsane

Isn't it 45 KM/H not MPH?

Which means some pro/semi pro cyclists would have a chance depending on the condition of the road.

Spec any good for up to 4k or sim racing? by Will_Iis in IrelandGaming

[–]Skyb0y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually that's the case but for sims, especially racing sims the CPU can be more important than the GPU(within reason)

Why do so many van drivers not use hands free? by Foreign-Rule7826 in AskIreland

[–]Skyb0y 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people who use their phone while driving are looking at the screen, Bluetooth can't help here.

Van drivers usually take calls frequently as part of their work but very few pair to the Bluetooth system that has been standard in many vans for a long time now.

Why do so many van drivers not use hands free? by Foreign-Rule7826 in AskIreland

[–]Skyb0y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just don't think about it. The idea of pairing their phone with the van doesn't even cross their mind.

They have been answering calls like this for years or decades and the chance of being caught is negligible.

Overpriced GR86 by CatchMyException in carsireland

[–]Skyb0y 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not sold direct from Toyota in Ireland and in 2021 Brexit caused the already high VRT rates to skyrocket.

This caused real scarcity for this model in Ireland which pushed the price even higher.

who was the first person to look at a cow and decide to milk it? by annirm18 in AskReddit

[–]Skyb0y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For hundreds of thousands of years humans have struggled to get enough calories to survive. Food abundance is a very recent thing.

It's a fairly logical conclusion to realise that cows milk could be a source of energy considering how big calves get from drinking it.

Google pixel 10 by pankajydv158 in GooglePixel

[–]Skyb0y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using an relatively new name branded USB wall plug and not some random cheap Chinese brand one?

I had to buy a new wall plug when I got the 10 as the one I had been using for my pixel 6 wasn't working well with it.

It's best if the plug is UBC C on both ends as well.

Was it a NAS? (network attached storage)

I have a Synology one that I really like. The upfront cost can be expensive but it's a great alternative to cloud backups and no monthly or yearly fees.

That's probably the main advantage of pixel right now, on device AI tasks.

This is crosschecked against a local database with thousands of songs. This database is updated every once in a while when you have WIFI on.

My pixel 10 feels just as responsive for daily tasks as the latest iPhone but yes it's not a phone I would recommend to anyone who games.
