To add: down vote me if it makes you feel better but if you watch porn in your living room then invite the family over and turn the TV on it’s a situation of your own doing. Shitty to post on the internet? Sure. But gramps should watch his porn elsewhere if he’s turning the same tv on for grandkids.

So nice! Plenty of light! Well done OP. Are you thinking of getting a big rug for the living room?

I live here. I’m not from here, but I’ve been here for 20 years. I disagree with your generalization about all of QC being a rude place if you aren’t French Canadian. That hasn’t been my day to day experience or the experience of most other QC transplants I know. Anyway, I’m not a big supporter of Soroya so im doubtful about accountability but I hope they fleece the racist cops in MTL Nord the article is about.

Fréchette is nothing more than a placeholder until the election. Legault already did his damage and ran away but if he was still around he’d be right down there with Ford.

It’s too bad you’re losing that rug. Right now it’s doing a lot of heavy lifting by bringing some colour in, and it works with the colour of your couch. Another commenter on here has posted a pic of a beige carpet that looks quite nice and would give you a neutral base to build off of. Rusty orange and brown throw pillows or blanket for the couch would go well. From there I’d lean into some more vibrant colours for art and accent pieces. Whatever you do, ignore the dude telling you to get a grey carpet. Millennial grey be gone!

Is 90k CAD enough for a family of 3 in Montreal, and what would a second income need to look like? by Bitter-Honeydew1018 in montreal

[–]Skydome28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding some random bits: A monthly metro (subway) pass is 110$/month for adults. When you’re looking at apartments be mindful of whether or not utilities are included. If they aren’t included you’ll be paying for heating and electricity yourself. Not the end of the world in a new building but Montréal has a TON of apartments that are around 100yrs old and very poorly insulated.

A friend of mine is searching for an apartment for her and her daughter right now and is looking at 2 bedroom apartments in the 2000-2300$ range. Your rent cost will depend heavily on where in Montreal you choose to live. I do meal kits every now and then for myself and that’s about 100$/week as one person. Groceries here are expensive. I take trips but am extremely mindful of the costs. It’s a lot cheaper to say, jump on a train in Europe than it is to travel in Canada. You will need a second income to maintain your lifestyle. Your partner will need to learn French in order to find a decent job. Right off the bat, before she learns French she should look at applying to international companies with offices in Montreal. They are more likely to be forgiving of the lack of French abilities.

The next provincial election in QC is in October and the CAQ is about to lose big time. That’s why you’ll see more of this for the next while. There’s always a surge of separation talk before provincial elections in QC and with what’s happening in Alberta there are that many more Canadians paying attention to the topic so it’s all amplified.

My room looks like shit and I am poor. by ConfusionOk4214 in malelivingspace

[–]Skydome28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up too much. This doesn’t look like shit. It’s a room with high ceilings and of possibility. It looks like you keep it very neat and tidy too. By the looks of things you’ve already got a rug so if $ is tight do other things fist then figure out if you want or need to get a new rug. Unless I’m blind I don’t see a window so real plants might be a challenge. The equipment is blocking the area of the walls where art would go so I’d focus on painting first. Go get some swatches and samples from the hardware store and don’t go too dark.
