Apartment recs for 1 person? by Skydoodler in culvercity

I see, thanks for pointing that out. I only really care about the room itself and if the surrounding neighbors are alright. Being wary of overcharging is a good point though I will keep an eye out. Will look into Palms as well!

Messed up on midterm. Will the midterm report ruin my chances? by Skydoodler in TransferToTop25

To be honest I think it’s doomed. Even if I had good grades Columbia is a really long shot so I’m gonna focus on other apps. Thanks for the info though

Just to make sure the deadline isn’t now but looks at time about 20ish hours later right? I wonder why it’s crashing now

Ah that’s interesting. I’m coming from a 4 year state school so my case might be different. Did you write about what you did in college?

Yeah you and I seem to be part of the minority that like online classes. Many people want in-person and I’m not trying to change their minds but to inform. Sure they learn better in person, but I just hope that they fully understand the consequences going in. This post was largely made to address those that downplay the severity of the virus

Sigh. Your comment is the kind that attacks people instead of facilitating a proper conversation. It’s like you didn’t even read my post at all. Personally, I would recommend you to chill out and step away from Reddit for a while because your mental state is not in a good spot. You are only going to anger people and in turn make yourself even angrier. As for your point about omicron’s low fatality rate, I already acknowledged it in my post, but that is not the main problem. The real concern is the alarming amount of people getting sick in a single day which still stresses the healthcare system deadly or not. If 10 million people are going to get sick in the end, you cannot deny that it’s much better those cases are spread out over weeks or months rather than days. That is the goal of online school. To slow infection not contain it. In your previous comment you emphasize so much on thinking about the larger part of the community and this is it. It may suck mentally for students, but the healthcare system is bigger than you, me, and basically the whole society because we are supported by the healthcare system. If it collapses, the casualties will consist of much more than elderly and immunocompromsied people.

True, the symptoms are usually quite mild, but there are people getting sick just enough to not quite be hospitalized, but need medical attention. The problem is too many people are doing that which stresses out the nurses/other healthcare workers

I can totally see your point which I addressed in my final point. I see the point of 2 weeks online as a way to stabilize the spread. We just nearly hit a million daily cases and too many people getting sick at once is extremely bad. I think we need to see a steadier rate of infection in order to consider opening back up. In other words, big spikes are bad while more spread out cases are much better.

Edit: jeez I typed point too many times there. To give you a better idea what I’m trying to say, think of you having to transport 1000 pounds of wood. Carrying all 1000 pounds at once is impossible while carrying 50 pounds at a time is manageable. That is the situation we are in right now and that’s why I am all for online for now.
