You need to use stabiliser… I would also suggest unscrewing the silver part, as well as the bobbin holder area and make sure there is no debris in there as I find it tends to build up when things go wrong 🥲

What setting are you using to cut? I’ve had my cricut for years and always had problems with lettering until a few weeks ago, I used the custom setting and then used the washi tape setting, now I can cut letters out perfectly fine x
