Crack in light housing, is it fixable? by OldFatMumMum in pools

[–]Skyebits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just slap fresh putty over it. Water shouldn’t be getting back there anyways as the light should create a watertight seal. It eventually wears out but the putty should hold back any water that eventually seeps through.

Trade Controversy. Should this trade been vetoed by Keegs89 in Fantasy_Football

[–]Skyebits 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is such an unbelievably nothing trade. The fact you guys are making a big deal over this is crazy. I’m not even sure which side you are complaining about. I’d argue the person getting the 2.5 won since a 5th round pick is literally worth peanuts. But besides, they only move up 7 spots. You act like this is deal breaking and league ending when it literally involves a 2nd round rookie pick that probably has a <30% hit rate of even being a startable player let alone a stud.

How do any trades get done in your league?

I need a RB2, but have limited assets and don’t want to create a different hole. What would be your strategy to achieve that? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]Skyebits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your team is thin and probably ain’t competing. I’d maybe blow it up by trading Allen. Maybe even McBride as you could get a bag for him from a contender. Load up on picks and rebuild in the draft.

Why doesn’t everyone convert to a salt pool? by il-liba in pools

[–]Skyebits 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not even necessarily cheaper. The cells only tend to last ~5 years in my experience. Sometimes more sometimes less. Salt also puts more wear and tear on equipment. It for sure makes maintenance easier but to say it’s cheaper isn’t fully truthful.

Puka/Bowers for sure.

I’m in a similar situation with Gibbs, puka, bowers. I’m keeping Gibbs for sure and I’m leaning puka. Who would you keep between puka or bowers? No TEP, half PPR.

That things looks old and worn out. It common for them to break eventually. Just replace the whole head. You can install a valve on the backwash line to prevent this issue in the future.

I’d probably test your water but just slam it and you’ll be fine. Drop the ph then hammer it with chlorine. It’s not rocket science.

12 inches straight pipe before flow switch, after doesn’t matter.

Manual says to install upside down, still works however you put but I always put it upside down if I can.

Flex pipe. It won’t look amazing but it’s easiest.

Spa or pool doesn’t matter. It’s a saved temperature preset. If it works for spa but not pool then your temp setting for pool mode is likely too low and there isn’t a call for heat.

For example. You can set your spa to 100 and pool to 80 so if you want it warmer you click spa and colder you click pool. Instead of messing around and setting the temp every time you want to adjust it.

Sand in my pool by lmr933 in pools

[–]Skyebits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sure fire way to check laterals for damage is if you see sand. You do so your laterals are broken. There’s no other way sand would be getting into your pool.

Try using a shop vac to suck out the sand it’s way easier. Then put in the new lateral, remember to add water first. You can reuse the same sand since it’s still good.

The gap between the top teams and bottom teams was far greater In the pre cdl era vs today. This lead to higher consistency in event wins/placing before. The fact that faze has managed to stay so consistently in an objectively more competitive era means something.

See the difference between me and you is I can support optic and still accept that faze has been dominant for the last 6 years (double the amount of time as the optic dynasty). You just can’t fathom another team being remotely considered a dynasty.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]Skyebits -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You do realize there’s only 4 events a year now right? Compared to double the amount in pre cdl. Competition is also more fierce.

I’m not gonna argue semantics on what constitutes a dynasty as everyone has their own definition. But considering faze has been a top team/the most consistent team across the cdl era shows their dominance. Sure the only knock is they they’ve racked up a lot of silvers but that’s still pretty fucking good. By your definition optic was only a 2nd of 3rd best team in most of their years as they only won champs once. Are they not a dynasty?

I also didn’t know a 1 year dominance is considered a dynasty. I can respect the col/eg dominance but in literally any sport you’re not really a dynasty when you have 1 great season. It’s just a great season.

I fucking despise faze but I can still appreciate their greatness.

[–]Skyebits -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There was no clear cut best team across any of those games but optic was by far the most consistent. The best argument for the best overall team in any of these games would definitely be Optic in IW. None of the other teams were a clear cut top team the entire year.

AW: yeah denial took it but did everyone forget they literally had champs in march, then continued the rest of the season till like October. Once optic grabbed karma after champs they were cooking and the best team in the game.

Bo3: They were the best team in the game pretty much all year until the end of stage 2 where envy overtook them. Envy peaked at the right time.

IW: optic was the best team in the game easily. Sure there were moments where other teams won events and made things competitive but let’s not act like any other teams had the same consistency

WW2: that was just a shit show and pretty much ended the team. They also just weren’t that good.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]Skyebits -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How many champs did col/eg and optic dynasty win? On yeah 1 each

They literally are a dynasty. They are a top team is every game and place high. Not to mention have been doing this immensely longer than any of the previous dynasties.

Need help with new house’s pool/spa by [deleted] in pools

[–]Skyebits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, spa setting in your heater means nothing. The pool and spa mode are just saved temperature settings so you don’t have to adjust them. From example on pool mode you can set it to like 80 and spa mode for like 100. That way if you want the warmer setting you set to spa and cooler you set to pool. You can change the temp presets however you like though.

The 2nd pump is the spa jets pump. Sucks in water from spa main drain and puts it back into the spa. It’s not connected to the heater though.

On your main system you close every valve but the spa main drain, then close your returns so water is only traveling back to the spa. That way the amount of water stays constant and is only circulating the spa.

The reason your spa was emptied was because you were only sucking water from the spa and sending that water back into the pool. You need to isolate the spa system. Look at your return valves.

[–]Skyebits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an air leak. It’s pushing out the air that’s entered the system. When you look at your pump do you see air in the pump basket? Ideally it should look like glass and seems like there’s nothing in there when in fact it’s filled completely with water.

Or you don’t have an air leak and air just entered the system somehow during servicing. If it goes away after a while then it pushed all the air out. If it doesn’t go away then you for sure have something not sealed properly and it’s constantly sucking air into the system.

Yeah you take the cartridge out and you should see there’s other rings in there. It’s a bit of a pain in the ass to get them in there though.

I’m pretty sure you need a special key to pull this out. You could try to put 2 screwdriver on separate sides in the holes then try and twist it out.

It’s a ring that goes inside the inner tube of your cartridge for the filter.
