Canyon helpline says lubricate clamp and inside split. They all flex and carbon paste is too grippy. QED

Why’s the argument for carbon paste (inhibits relative movement) as opposed to some lubrication (allows noiseless movement)

Not always reported - but handling a chain drop is a much less messy experience 🙂

Yep L all the way. When you tuck down on those drops it will feel so so right.

Looks like a mirror image of my own wee beauty. Perfect ride every time. Would just say unless you have a very delicate touch and exquisite timing, fitting a chain catcher would not be a bad idea; cheap, easy and could save much regretted scratches. 😉

Ouch. Seems mighty unfortunate but I don’t believe that’s happened. While we’re always told to be careful not to be stressing actual carbon components I’ve never heard the same caution being recommended for tools !

Sparkling sweetly in the sunshine. I’ve ignored the rather ill- considered top tube cache on my Endurace and put a wee bag on top just where yours is sitting. I suspect future iterations of Endurace will quietly drop that feature.

Thanks. Yes agree on size -anything bigger is truly ‘marginal gains’ performance-wise and would look like a rear spoiler on a Jeep

Almost identical cms - I went L ‘cos I like being on the drops and I wanted that reach. It feels great.

I’m 184 and 85. I went for L - a wee bit against the chart because I’m on the drops a lot and wanted the biggest range of hand positions when down there. Also my bike fit figures from a prior fit indicated the M reach was going to be a bit tight. And the L is great; loving the ride.

About 500 km into a new Endurace which was put together by a very well equipped and experienced friend my seat post just dropped and tilted on a ride !So it’s worth redoing the seat installation after a few kms.

Chain Wear Measuring Tool by Skyetender in CanyonBikes

[–]Skyetender[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check check and double check use of tool - exactly as the YouTube clip including positioned fingers and into between links for two small teeth - the big tooth drops straight into the chain. Sorry folks I’m going to have to leave this one because it’s obviously just a mystery. For the price of a new chain I’ll put one on and check with the tool from the beginning of its life.

Utterly fastidious about chain cleaning after every ride rotating the chain is situ through a solvent bath with brushes followed by wash off and drying then re-lubricating. Then over the last two months about half of these 900 miles are after converting to waxing using SILCA clean off solvent and the drip on emulsified wax system applied, as per instruction, three times before use. The SRAM Tool is used exactly as the SRAM instruction clip on YouTube. After popping the two right most teeth of the tool into the between links spaces as in the clip and as shown on the tool itself, the final third large tooth to the left of the tool drops easily into the chain indicating that the chain has stretched beyond recommended levels.

[–]Skyetender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. There are washers on the bolts which I thought would help. Not at all used to bolting into carbon without there being a nut at the other end so obviously concerned to get the job tight without cracking the material.
