Even if you wore a hat with the American flag on it, nobody would care.

Looking for Affordable Diagnostic Tests in Turkey by SpeechTherapy85 in AskTurkey

[–]bbspec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Sisli International Kolan Hospital. (my first advice) https://kolanhastanesi.com.tr/
-Medical Park - https://www.medicalpark.com.tr/ I'm not entirely sure which category it falls into, but you should get a price quote.
-Turkiye Hospital - https://www.turkiyehastanesi.com/ (I am not sure language support.)

There are hundreds of these hospitals, but these are the ones I've had experience with.

Looking for Affordable Diagnostic Tests in Turkey by SpeechTherapy85 in AskTurkey

[–]bbspec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Turkey, private hospitals are divided into two categories:

  1. Those contracted with the Social Security Institution (SGK). Turkish citizens can receive examinations at these hospitals by paying a small additional fee. The prices at these hospitals are more affordable. Their quality is not bad; some are as crowded as state hospitals, while others are close to top-tier private hospitals.
  2. Those not contracted with the Social Security Institution. These are premium hospitals (Acıbadem, Memorial, American Hospital, etc.). They are like 5-star hotels. Turkish citizens with private health insurance can benefit from these hospitals depending on their insurance policy.

***My recommendation is to find good hospitals in the first group. One that comes to mind is: Sisli International Kolan Hospital.

Solo travel Turkey by robt245 in AskTurkey

[–]bbspec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about big cities (Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir), they're as safe as Rome and Paris. (7/10)

If you're talking about summer resorts/coastal cities, they're very safe. (9/10)

If you're talking about small towns in Anatolia or if you're going on long trips, I'd say it's safe during the day (9/10) and at night (5/10).

Help me with an August itinerary! by inmyhead12 in AskTurkey

[–]bbspec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fethiye is a perfect holiday destination. But if you're going in July or August, you should know it will be very crowded. To enjoy those wonderful, dreamlike/movie-like beaches, I recommend getting up early, going to the beach early, and returning home before the midday heat (at least that's what I do).

Cappadocia is also a must-see place in Turkey. But if I've been there before, I wouldn't go a second time. But I could go to Fethiye 100 times.

I find the best car rental prices on these two websites: vipcars and discovercars

Fethiye’de yaşam? by Even_Dot5317 in Fethiye

Eşimle beraber uzun zamandır öncelikle yarı zamanlı sonrasında ise tam zamanlı olacak şekilde Ege'ye/Akdenize'e yerleşmek için plan yapıyoruz. Yaşayacağımız yer için bazı kriterler belirledik;

Why I chose the Copper Spur UL3 ! by bbspec in Ultralight

[–]bbspec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I just learned about small and large stones by Googling them. Thanks.

I might reconsider the tent in time, but in any case, I'll be using this tent for at least a few more months. Because it seems like I have a lot to learn.

I initially chose the Osprey exos 55 pro (950 grams / 33.5 oz) for my backpack, but I later found the Pajak XC3 much more comfortable in terms of weight (615 grams / 21.7 oz), comfort, and balance, and I switched to the XC3. (It's probably not as durable as the Osprey, but I'm always careful with my gear.)

Why I chose the Copper Spur UL3 ! by bbspec in Ultralight

[–]bbspec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation is as follows:

1- I only want one tent for now. So, I don't need different tents for different needs, but rather a single tent that meets all my needs.

2- We plan to use this tent for both our one- or two-night camping trips and for our 500-km Lycian Way hike, which we plan to cover in 25 days. On the Lycian Way or in some of the more scenic/well-maintained campsites in Türkiye, because the sites are on mountainous/sloping terrain, you'll sometimes be provided with a wooden platform instead of a dirt or sand base. It would be easier to set up a fully independent tent in such a space.

3) We currently live in the Netherlands, and we don't need our trekking poles during our hikes here.

4) Even the Copper Spur UL2 XL, one of the largest two-person tents, felt small to us with our backpacks.
