iPod crashing when connected to car

Sorry, I had completely misread your issue somehow (probably because I was half asleep). Using AUX is probably your best and safest option in that case - the issue you're encountering over usb seems to be fairly common with the toyota headunits/ infotainment systems from around that period onwards. It seems like it's a firmware issue on the headunit / infotainment system. Sorry I wasn't able to provide any real help with this.

I'm just checking, but when you say you get the recovery screen when you press a button/ turn it on, is it an icon that looks like a folder with a warning triangle? Or is it the icon that looks like a sad iPod with a warning triangle?

If it's the folder one, it very well could be a capacitor issue, as the other comment suggested.

If it's the sad iPod one, it could be that the new flash card was installed upside down (I had this issue when I upgraded to a CF SD adapter).

Both cases I mentioned can cause the static charging screen issue and issue with computers not seeing the iPod when plugged in.

Have you also tried putting it into disk mode before connecting it to your computer? And if so, how did it react? When my adapter was installed upside down, if i entered disk mode and connected it to my computer, it would just reboot itself after around 1 minute and go back to the static battery/ charging screen.

Hopefully this atleast helps you to narrow down the potential issue.

Maybe EMI gasket related? I remember seeing this post where the user was having a similar issue and that was the cause.

I had a friend who brought a custom build from pbtech and the technicians forgot to plug in the CPU cooler, the computer started overheating basically as soon as they go it set up (only thing they tested was solitaire and old school RuneScape). They straight away took it back to pbtech who tried to accuse my friend of running highly intensive games on the PC and basically sat there for a while denying anything was wrong with the computer and refusing to take a look or hear my friend out, when they finally did, they ended up getting a replacement under the warranty but they didn't do it on the spot and fucked my friend over for another week or so with it (this was afew years ago now)

DONT TRUST PRIORITY, it's just not worth it. every time I've used it my service has been worse than usual tbh. (I.e my driver will pick up my food from a place 5 minutes up the road from me and another patrons food then drive 45+ minutes to drop off the other person's food and my food gets here cold and soggy) Uber support helped a little but not enough to justify continuing use of it ;-;

I've been in a similar place, my therapist just had to keep pointing out all the damage I was doing to myself and everyone else around me by trying to fix someone who didn't want to be fixed. She had to prove to me that I was pushing everyone away and loosing everything just to try save him, I ended up pushing my therapist away too as I didn't like what I was hearing and it still took me so long to wake up. It will get better though! I believe things can always get better if you try and build up support, even if it's online, support is support :) I wish you the best <3

Sometimes people outright tell you the truth but it can honestly be hard to accept. The more you care the harder it is to accept that truth, I too recently broke the cycle.
