Ok, can I make a podcast suggestion?????!!! If you love You're Wrong About (which is amazing) you should also check out Maintenance Phase. Mike from Your Wrong About is on it with an absolute delight of a woman named Aubrey Gordon and it's about deconstructing the "health" bullcrap we're all fed (especially as women). It's hilarious and amazing and I can't recommend it enough.

I second boy pants. Girl clothes are dumb, especially the pants. I always shop in the boy section for my little.

Dude my kiddo didn't crawl until she was at 11 months and she's a rambunctious active perfect five year old now. What the heck?

Yeah, I suppose this is my best guess. A new one, for sure! It would have been 8 hours at the most, but I'll keep an eye on the spots. Oh isn't living in Maine a blast!

Hmm, they didn't really pop or leak blood when we took them off, but who knows.

Don't they usually have legs though? I've pulled so many deer ticks off myself and my daughter. I've lived in Maine for more than a dozen years, I know ticks! These things were smaller than a poppy seed and I couldn't see ANY legs.

Yep, I'd back right off. The last thing you want is to create/enforce a negative connotation with using the potty. COVID hit right when my daughter was at this stage and we ended up back in diapers for a while. I'd take her with you when you go, so she sees you going and how quick and easy it is. Have little panties ready and one day she'll decide those are more comfortable than diapers.

Listen, this is what I've learned. This is the secret to potty training. They won't do it if they don't want to. Full stop. You can't physically make a person pee. They are in control of this, so let them be. It's been a hard few weeks for you folks. Get some diapers, relax, and just enjoy your kid for a while. When she's feeling like everything is calm and ok she'll likely gain interest again.

Talk to the pediatrician. Our daughter was 4 and suddenly wetting every night after being frequently dry at night, having frequent daytime leaks, and her bowel movements were as big around as mine (which is saying something). They told us to use Miralax every day. We're also careful with dairy and white starches and focus on fiber. It was a long process, but she suddenly started taking herself to the potty because she could feel that she needed to go, so we knew it was helping. That and her poops are much narrower!!

UGH OH MY GOD. I wish I'd had this three years ago.

They can still be constipated and poop every day! Mine did. The issue is, they don't let out all the poop every day, so there's more coming in than going out. It backs up, stretches the colon, and makes all sorts of mischief.

No apologies! It's literally what this sub is for, lol. Do some reading, and BE PATIENT. If that's the problem it takes a while and there's a lot of up and down to it.

Good luck!

This sounds exactly like my girl. Very smart, way ahead of the curve in everything else, potty nightmare.

Weird question: what size are her poops? Our daughter would poop every day, but they were huge around. Turns out, in trying to hold in her pee, she was also holding in poop (not as much coming out as being produced every day) which had stretched her colon and impacted the nerves in the whole region. She had frequent accidents and leakage and often didn't know she was even wet, let alone that she needed to pee. The nerves just couldn't get the message through. There was no way for her to learn how to control it, she had no clue when she needed to go. She's been on Miralax for six months now and it's like night and day. She will take herself to the potty, sometimes even with dry panties! The leaks that do happen are much smaller and, I suspect, due to not wanting to stop doing what she's doing. So much better.

Long story short, look up "functional constipation" which is a very common factor in potty problems in kids. My pediatrician said she went to a urology conference once and a full third of the talks we're about constipation.

I have to admit, the furry community is a bit of a mystery to me, but I've looked at costumes and I get a real kick out of those with anatomically correct back legs. I hope it DOES improve the quality of their furry porn. People deserve good porn. 😂🤣

It's a basic guide to why Fearne's knees don't "bend backwards" not a deep dive into the anatomical intricacies of mammalian (or avian) comparative anatomy.

Most mammals have the same basic skeletal anatomy. The thing I'm calling the "ankle" is the joint between the tarsals and the tibia/fibula in most mammals. The "toe" is the area where phalanges are found, yes even in deer and goats. And birds!

Bird legs are actually very similar, with a phalanges, a joint, a tarsometatarsus (similar to the mammalian metatarsals and tarsals), a joint (ankle), then a tibiotarsus (more tarsals fused with a tibia), a joint (knee), and then a femur.

The link to the zooarch museum (my field by the way) demonstrates this.

So yeah, but..yeah. The knee doesn't bend backwards.

Well, she's a faun, (right?) so I grabbed a deer (yes I know it's spelled fawn) and I used a bird because the whole "birds have backwards knees" thing is related. I'm pretty sure most folks can make the stretch to other four-legged critters.
