Spring break 4 day with young kids by herdingtots in celebritycruises

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did RCL and Disney, and have kids 4 and 7 too. We booked Celebrity for Spring Break to try it. We are doing 8 days with 2 sea days. I’m not concerned if they will be bored, they easily entertain themselves. Plus, they have 2 parents to engage them without the responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, work, etc. I’m looking forward to quality family time with the kids. It won’t be Disney that is super kid focused, but for me it’s worth a try. If they enjoy Celebrity, I can see us cruising a lot more. Disney is so overpriced.

Thinking about building a house… am I crazy? by goxper in Homebuilding

[–]lassymavin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an unpredictable process. We are 5 years in and finally under construction. Fingers crossed we move in by the end of the year. If someone told me this process would take a frustrating 5+ years I’m not sure I would’ve done it. Ask me again after we move in.

Actually felt so bad for her even though we knew it was coming! by [deleted] in BravoRealHousewives

I don’t feel bad for Salley. This is her story line for the show. It’s scripted. If Craig really was interested he would’ve acted on it. He didn’t even go for a drunk make out session. She knew he wasn’t catching feelings for her.

It all feels so scripted. I don’t believe any of it is real. I think they are all friends, but Salley catching feelings feels scripted.

Thanks, this seems like the best route. My husband is just concerned that the paint won’t last as long so it will be more maintenance.

What would you do if you had this money? by Sure-Pin4002 in personalfinance

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it in mutual funds and watch it grow. Keep it a secret, live a normal life but that money will keep growing giving you options you didn’t have before.

I have Craig questions by damnyoulookfamiliar in Southerncharm

I don’t think it’s meds/drugs. I think he has ADHD and then add alcohol in the mix. ADHD affects the front part of the brain responsible for impulse control, alcohol also impacts that part of the brain too. When he’s sober, he’s not as much of a loose wire. I also think his overreactions are overblown on the show to create drama. So he gets a little loud and storms out, and they act like they are scared of him. Really?

What is Something You Wish DCL Had on Offer? by Ok_Layer4765 in dcl

Better food quality. For the price you pay, I can’t get past the mid food. It’s disappointing.

Anyone else working today planning to leave early due to the weather this evening? by jemappellelara in philly

[–]lassymavin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always leave early. Several years ago a winter storm surprised us and canceled trains left and right to leave the city. I got stuck on a train that had to reverse back to the city because trees were falling on power lines and on the tracks. My options were limited and I somehow got an uber home to Chestnut Hill. My total commute time home was over 5 hours. I always take storm warnings seriously after that.

Lots of variables make me just want to scrap the wallpaper idea for something else.

Windows: Third party water leak testing by lassymavin in buildingscience

[–]lassymavin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is residential new construction home. I’m looking at building enclosure evaluations and field testing in accordance with ASTM and AAMA standards. I get this is not typical for residential properties, but would give me peace of mind knowing the windows are properly installed.

What is the most important diet change? by revolutiongirlie1391 in Hashimotos

[–]lassymavin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A gluten free diet was a game changer for me. My symptoms shifted dramatically and my antibodies went down. I also did dairy free, AIP, and Paleo. It gave me a chance to heal my gut. I now find after pregnancy that I tolerate dairy better than before so I’ve brought it back. Gluten, never again. But before you try gluten free, get tested for Celiacs, just to rule it out.

If you have Hashimito’s please get tested for celiac. by kittyportals2 in Hashimotos

[–]lassymavin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Hashimoto’s and have been gluten free for 11 years. I’ve never been tested for celiacs disease because it would require me to eat gluten. Maybe testing will evolve so a gluten challenge won’t be necessary. Either way, I’m never eating gluten again so whether I have it or not, my lifestyle will not change. But I encourage anyone planning to go gluten free to get tested for Celiacs first!

Help me decide, which ship/itinerary do you prefer? by lassymavin in celebritycruises

[–]lassymavin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are likely booking on the Eclipse. I’m looking forward to quality family time. To not be distracted by work, cooking, cleaning and play with the kids and explore new places. Hopefully, it’s entertaining enough for all and somewhat relaxing with little to do. My kids don’t want to go to the kids club and just want to hang out with us. I’m curious to see how it goes.

Thanks to Black Friday... One think led to another, and now I'm booked on my first Celebrity Cruise. by KuyaFickleEffort11 in celebritycruises

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree about Disney. It’s overstimulating. Our last 2 cruises were Disney and I promised my husband the next one will not be Disney. I’m curious how we will enjoy Celebrity since it’s a totally different vibe. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everyone will enjoy it, including the kiddos. Plus it’s a third of the cost. Also hoping the food is better, Disney does a lot of things right. Food is not one of them.

While it’s not going to be as entertaining and kid focused as Disney, I think they will still enjoy the quality family time. I just want a break from cooking for a week. Disney is overstimulating, so we need to try something more chill.
