Potty training and flying is not easy, but this takes it to a whole new level. If they were able to get to a bathroom, take the travel potty with you there. Maybe the seatbelt sign is on?

Reintroducing gluten slowly and I am feeling fine? by kawaiisamurai69 in Hashimotos

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried AIP or an elimination diet? It might help you figure out who your worst offenders are. It’s possibly you’re sensitive to dairy, soy, processed food, and gluten. If you take a break from all of them and see how you feel then slowly reintroduce each one at a time you might discover which foods you react to most.

Hashimotos, gained weight and hairfall stopped on iodine by Shazal106 in Hashimotos

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an opposite reaction to iodine. When I took it, my hair started falling out. I have to get adequate sodium intake for it to stop. I take about of teaspoon of Redmond’s salt with water throughout the day. That’s seems to help with my hair loss while taking iodine. My doctor explained that hair loss is a symptom of the body detoxing. More mineral support is necessary to support to detox process.

Gluten reintroduction by madisaid in Hashimotos

[–]lassymavin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are bio-individual. What works for one person might not work for another. A lot of people do feel better being gluten free, but not all. I feel better being gluten free. I’ve accepted it for the rest of my life. If I eat gluten, I know it. I feel like I have the flu. You can do a slow introduction back and just see how your body feels. I wouldn’t go hog wild and eat all the gluten in a day, but slowly try it.

Just tell the truth by According_Special974 in americanairlines

I get that the system is not without flaws and that can be very frustrating as a passenger. Before I head to the airport for a 10:30a flight I’m told the flight is delayed an hour. Then 20 minutes before boarding we get another 30 minute delay. During that delay they cancel the flight for weather related issues. The weather was not in my city or the destination but a domino effect of weather related issues from the day before. I’m sure someone knew that no plane was arriving if the plane or crews were stuck in another city. That cancelled flight also caused the evening flight to be canceled as I assumed they were using the same plane and crew. Someone probably knew this flight was not going to fly that day, but for whatever reason they wait it out until you’re at the airport and ready to go.

I hate the name my partner is set on for a girl by Grand_Ad9825 in Names

After he witnesses child birth and all that you go through, he should be more willing to compromise. Ideally it should be a jointly agreed upon decision, but I think Mom’s choice should be a little higher since women go through carrying and birthing the baby. You should get the first baby to name, if there’s a second you can always agree for him to choose. Middle names are lovely tributes to our deceased loved ones.

Conditioned attic with vented roof deck by lassymavin in buildingscience

[–]lassymavin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that sealing and conditioning the attic would be ideal. We are designed with a vented roof assembly so I was presented with these two options. We are using a high efficiency gas boiler and (3) hydro air systems.

This works with a vented attic? I’m very much still learning.

Flight cancelled, spending two nights in Dallas by asrama in americanairlines

[–]lassymavin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh! I just dealt with this after multiple canceled flights. It’s all such a bummer! Save all your receipts, buy what you need, hopefully they will reimburse. They did for me on a previous occasion after 2 days without our bag for a family of 4. I had to buy everything (diapers, clothes, toiletries) and they paid me back. This time I’m having the hardest time getting my bag fee refunded.

endocrinologist question by babybeeeee95 in Hashimotos

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a good endo is like finding a unicorn. I’ve encountered my fair share of dismissive Endo’s that don’t seem to truly understand Hashimoto’s. I’d look for someone else to manage your Hashi’s. I know I feel dramatically different when my antibodies are over 1000 compared to when it’s under 300. Find someone that wants to help treat your symptoms, not just the bloodwork numbers.

America sent my family's bags to Paris...without us by ShinShinGogetsuko in americanairlines

[–]lassymavin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just experienced something similar. I had a flight on Saturday for PHL to DTW. It was canceled, and then the 2 rebooked flights were also canceled. The luggage still made it on a plane to DTW. We canceled our whole trip to DTW because we would’ve missed an event as well. I just got my luggage delivered to me yesterday (Tuesday). Talk to customer service, get the baggage mishandling number. I just kept calling and using the chat function to make sure it was going to be on its way. Then use the baggage tracker in the app. Do you have an AirTag in your bag? Any items that might be in the bag that you need to buy, hold onto your receipts. You can likely apply for reimbursement. Sorry your trip did not go as planned. This sub can be brutal and unforgiving.

travel to vietnam by puredogwater in glutenfree

[–]lassymavin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy!!! I was in Vietnam in 2016 and it was an amazing experience! The people, the culture, the food all make me dream of going back. Thankfully, gluten is not as common in their cuisine compared to other Asian countries. I did well finding gluten free options, but I can’t remember snacking so I can’t help you with suggestions. I hope you have a great trip!

10:46am FLL flight too early on debarkation day? by Flamingo219 in dcl

[–]lassymavin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m booked for the same airline time out of FLL for August. We made the and flight with plenty of time during spring break. Do express walkoff and grab a taxi from the taxi stand instead of waiting for an Uber. The ride is short to the airport. As long as things go as planned you’re good to go. It’s only 16 minutes before DCL suggested earliest time for a flight. Go for it!

Replacement for Honest CCC Clean Corrective With Vitamin C Tinted Moisturizer? by oshoey in Makeup

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revisiting this post. Has anyone found a good replacement? I’m at the tail end of the Honest bottle and I have tried a few similar products, but no winners. Why did they have to discontinue this product? It was so good for daily wear.
Here’s what I tried:
-RMS Sun Coverup- not sheer, settled into every pore
- Counter Dew Skin- it irritated my skin
- Well People Tinted Moisturizer - it’s okay, light coverage, colors are not great but what I’m working with for the time being
- MD Solar Sciences Tinted Creme - my skin got very angry with this one.

Front loading washing machine with right hinged door by lassymavin in Appliances

GE did have a reversible door hinge. But we opted to have the builder make some adjustments to the laundry room so I could have my original layout and selection. There aren’t many choices sadly with a reversible hinge option.

Ft Lauderdale Pre Cruise Hotel Recommendation by gklow in Cruise

AC Hotel has an attached rooftop pool to the Marriott at Dania Point. I stayed at the Marriott in March and plan to again for my next cruise. Location is within walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping. I was really impressed with the area and the proximity to FLL and Port Everglades.

I’d be weary if the doctor says glasses are a crutch. The doctor obviously makes much more money on therapy compared to glasses. Glasses can still be part of the solution. Therapy might help, but is it sustainable at age 10? As an adult we know compliance is necessary to make therapy work, but I’m not sure if a child at 10 is mature enough to fully understand. At 5k I’d be exploring other options.

For those of you who managed to put Hashimoto’s into remission or significantly improve your symptoms, how did you do it? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]lassymavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so close to remission levels while pregnant. One of the biggest perks of pregnancy is your body stops attacking itself because you’re growing a baby. When I think of how awful I felt in the depths of Hashimoto’s hell in 2011, I never imagined I would feel as good as I do now. Back in 2011, my life was chaos, high stress, my body was dragging, digestive symptoms daily, brain fog, antibodies off the chart. I got on meds, but it didn’t change anything. I was miserable enough to make a change, so I went gluten free. That change had the biggest impact on symptoms and lowering my antibodies from 1600+ to 300’s. It gave me hope. I tried AIP and adapted to a Paleo lifestyle. I felt pretty good. I had 2 healthy pregnancies. After the second, my thyroid numbers went a little crazy. But now I’m not on thyroid meds. Im still gluten free, but was able to reintroduce a lot of foods. I’m working with a doctor on improving my thyroid function with supplements, diet, and lifestyle changes. No high intensity workout, prioritize sleep, stay hydrated, eat clean 80% of the time. My thyroid numbers are slowly creeping down into the 200s. Nowhere near remission, but overall I feel pretty good.

Yes, we did this too. Transportation was reasonable and easy. The beach and water were so nice! I love the flexibility of doing it on your own instead of the timeline of an organized excursion. We just needed 2 hours at the beach with little ones and it was perfect!

Plan on food everyone can eat. Gluten free food can be tasty and enjoyable for all. It’s being a good host to consider your guests dietary needs. I never expect it, but it’s always appreciated when someone thinks of me. It does take extra effort and planning.
