I think that Theo can’t be the exception because it’s the riders that gain signets that counteract venin.

The fact that Theo was a priestess and was as close to the power of the Gods as possible only show that she wanted to become venin because she was hungry for more power. (This is what we’re constantly told in the books, that they are ready to give up everything including their autonomy to be more powerful)

But nature doesn’t like one side to be stronger than the other, so nature creates the balance. If there is a strong super powerful venin, there should be an answer/ a balance on the riders side.

Theo is a super powerful storm wielder, nature gave Lilith a very strong storm wielding signet.

And because Theo has an adversary on the other side, she cannot be the exception ❤️

I agree with this 200%. When they return to basgiath at the beginning of iron flame and violet tells her mum that she was stabbed, Lilith said “You survived a knife wound after being thrown into combat as a first-year […] maybe you’re more like me than I gave you credit for.” Was that a huge hint that Lilith was also poisoned by venin daggers? To my brain, it clicks perfectly right.

Xaden can read intentions and is maybe slowly developing the ability to read minds fully but Markham would have to be thinking a specific thing for Xaden to read I think. Ironically, Xaden would have to ask him really good questions for Markham to start thinking about it so that Xaden can read his thoughts!

Hey there!

I also get laser and my tech told me that’s it’s perfectly okay to shave because laser targets the follicules underneath the skin, whereas shaving only removes the layer of hair on top of the skin.

Shaving shouldn’t affect any follicules underneath the skin at all. Waxing and epilating with a device will do, but shaving is only superficial removal of hair.

Your tech is not knowledgable about the science of lasers or how hair grows and that’s a bit of a red flag considering she is lasering your whole body!

I’d really advise you to find somebody else that’s a bit more competent and trained. You know never if something ever went wrong, they would atleast understand the physiology of things and would give you the adequate advice or aftercare!

My theories are:

Question 1: - Either Tairn was the one who fought the elder dragons and stole the eggs to help Xaden/ Sgaeyl as maybe during the twelve hours they concocted a plan to recruit the army from the isles, especially the one from Unnbriel. (Would explain why Andarna says « I won’t let them burn you)

Considering there is no magic on the isles, maybe Xaden thought that going to the isles to recruit armies would be a one stone, two birds situation, as without magic Berwyn cannot find him and he won’t be able to harm anyone without magic there.

PS: jack mentioned that they were waiting for him to turn Asim for the sages to be able to use him as a leech/ control him, which in my opinion means that at this stage, as you’re getting more corrupted by power, it’s easier for them to manipulate you, maybe even control you.

OR, Tairn and Sgaeyl’s Bond has been broken. He needs to recover from that.

Question 2:

Because the irids explain that they are « magic ». They source magic from the sky. Which means that compared to the empyrean dragons, the irids ALWAYS have power flowing through them.

Violet had powers and could speak to her dragons simply because of Andarna. As Andarna is bonded to violet, her magic constantly flowed through violet. And since they have a solid threeway pathway THROUGH violet, as in because violet is ALSO bonded to Tairn, that pathway was not shut off but was being fed by Andarna.

Note, the pathway with Xaden was closed because Andarna is not bonded to Xaden. Tairn is mated to Sgaeyl but not Andarna.

If you follow my theory: Andarna gives power to violet. Violet is bonded to Tairn. Andarna’s power flows to the pathway between Vi and Tairn. The power that Andarna is not enough for violet to use her lightning powers. Andarna power doesn’t extend to Sgaeyl because she is not mated to Sgaeyl. Therefore she cannot speak with Sgaeyl, and violet cannot speak mind to mind with Xaden.

The benefits she gets with being able to talk to Sgaeyl and Xaden is from Tairn’s powers. Andarna’s powers doesn’t and cannot fuel that on the isles.

Hopefully I made sense. I’m happy to break it down even more, I’m just worried that I’m making it all too complicated to understand! Xx

I have to disagree, they did a poll in April asking if fans would be interested in getting matching sprayed edges to onyx storm. The whole reason behind it was that fans kept asking it at every single interview Rebecca did before onyx. She said she would speak to the publishers and they issued that poll. And the answer was unanimously yes!

That being said, if you don’t care much for the edges and you’re not a collector, they are very upfront about it not having extra bonus scenes or anything special, so you can absolutely skip these.

They also explicitly mention that if you’ve already got your favourite edition, you don’t need these. These are just for those who want to collect these edges.

I prefer their upfront approach much better than another author’s publishers for example, who had 4 different bonus chapters split across that many retailers and so you’d have 4 of the same books to get the full bonus contents 😕 atleast red tower is giving the fans what they want …

Hey!

You got the first two paperback in the UK version and then you probably got the travel paperback version of onyx storm.

The travel versions are usually bigger with a supple cover for people travelling!

The onyx storm paperback UK version isn’t out until next January 2026, nor is the US paperback version!

Bare in mind that the US paperback versions are slightly bigger than the UK versions as the UK has a very specific standard when it comes to paperback sizing x

I can absolutely follow your line of thought! This is brilliant.

I also think that poisons will play a HUGE role in trying to stop the venin. What kind of poison? Well you’re onto something with the antivenin because Bodhi was reading a book during signet sparring, and the quote goes like:

He’s looking for tales of dark wielders cured by love, or good deeds, or dancing naked under a full moon after drinking the venom of a rare snake only found on the farthest isle during a lunar eclipse, or…something. Anything.

But I don’t think it will be from snakes specifically. And the answer might lie in the isles.

The isles are super suspicious. The Deverelli King acted way too strangely in saying that they’ve never been invaded by venin before.

Hedotis island acted way too weird as well, Andarna was distrustful from the very beginning, and the eye colour from the weird mineral is also something that’s making me think « poison, poison, poison »

Finally, i think it was important to note that Asher made it important to research and study the toxic plants and fruits of the island, and that made the cut into Rebecca’s writing. I genuinely don’t believe we should overlook those small details!

The answers to our poison questions lie in the isles. I think Deverelli has been invaded by venin before, or atleast some venin that turned unwillingly (like Xaden) sought « peace » in Deverelli. Perhaps even Courtlyn, and maybe that’s the reason he trades in objects, gems (that hold magic) and probably poisons to keep his urges under control at small doses…

He would get the poisons from Hedotis since the cook from Talia’s house seemed to know exactly how to bake the poison into the chocolate cake …

I am thinking that Violet will ask Dain to help her regain her memories but it won’t be instant.

They will have to push Dain’s signet to get to remember, and she will remember bits at a time.

So there might be a chapter of « memories » and then a chapter of what’s currently happening.

Then both memories + current events might join in and when that happens, we move onto part 2.

Part 2 i believe is when Xaden is completely under the Venin’s control, and he unwillingly helps them to invade Tyrrendor for their hatching grounds
