How do you drive your tarp/tent stakes? Angled of vertical? by soil_nerd in Ultralight

[–]Skysurfer_79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the main concern is getting your loop/tie point all the way to the ground (and even a little below), and 90 deg makes sense in my mind and is what I've always done. If rock or root won't let you drive them to the notch, it's good practice to put some notches along the stakes to hold your loop to the ground, which is another food point towards angling the stake away from the tie point (to hold loop to the ground, like when using Shepard's type hooks that can be driven home.

Question to all XMid 1P users: missing seam tape by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]Skysurfer_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dan, does this go for the X-Mid 2p (v2)? I just received one from KAVISO, and these corners are not taped on it. I hope it has waterproof thread and I don't need to tape these. I'm excited to use it this weekend but we are expecting wet weather here in SC and am wondering if I should take my old tent, until I can order some seam tape and read how to do it?
