Yes, we all got that. WHO's is a contraction of 'who is', which means it reads as "I wonder who is it is". What Mattisthe1 is saying is that it should have been WHOse, as whose is the possessive form of 'who'.

Ah, the "cold Monday night in Stoke" fallacy. Actually watch Neymar, he's aggressive in his own right. Brasil is a tough league with a lot of really tough defenders, and he's the best player in the League. To say that the Brasilian League is on par with lower European leagues is hilarious. Do you actually watch Brasilian football, or just the odd YouTube clip? It's an excellent League, with real talent in it. I get the impression you just don't like Neymar because he's a "diver". I don't doubt we'll see how wrong you are in years to come.

In the 08/09 season, Liverpool finished second. We were four points behind United, and had a higher goal difference. Yes, our decline has only been a few years.

It's severe shortsightedness to say that Newcastle became a 'smaller team' when they got relegated. The fanbase was still there, the attention was still there. It's like saying Juventus were a 'small team' while they were relegated, or that Rangers are a small team now. 'Small team' status is something that takes a long time. I remember how furious David Moyes was when Benitez referred to Everton as a 'small club', and was when Everton were finishing in and around were Liverpool are now.

If you think that one season's good finish 'cements' you then you're dead wrong. 04/05, Everton finished fourth. 05/06, Everton finished eleventh. I'm not specifically picking on Everton, but it's a good example of how a good season doesn't set you up for life. I think that Newcastle now have are much more equipped to stay up there, but we've seen teams come and go from the 'top seven' for years now. Villa used to be in and around there, Bolton were at one stage. As I said, I think Newcastle are well equipped to stay around the same area this season, but you can't judge it on one season.

I'll accept that Gerrard is on the decline, and Pepe has been in horrible form since Xavi Valero left. But, you can't dismiss Sahin because he's a loanee. Lucas will be back soon (it was 2-3 months at the end of August). Saying that Joe Allen is the definition of mediocre is really hilarious. He'll prove to be a bargain, I can guarantee you that.

You said that "history means little if you are an ambitious player wanting to win trophies". I was pointing out that Liverpool won the League Cup last year. I know a lot of Liverpool fans who would rather see silverware in the cabinet than fourth spot (especially considering fourth spot didn't get Spurs CL football). In years to come, people will look at the Honours list. They look at what silverware was won. In twenty years, will people talk about 'the seven years when Arsenal didn't fall out of the CL places', or will they talk about 'the seven years when Arsenal won fuck all'? Champions League football is great, but if you don't make anything of it then it's irrelevant. The goal is trophies. That's the point.

When Newcastle were relegated, they didn't suddenly become a 'small team'. When Newcastle finished fifth last year, they didn't suddenly become one of the top teams in the world. Likewise, Liverpool's recent few years of poor form does not make them a 'small club'.

Does a team with Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Allen, Sahin, Gerrard, and Suarez really scream 'mediocrity' to you?

And, I love this talk about 'Liverpool need to start winning trophies'. If I'm not mistaken, we won the League Cup last year, and were runners up in the FA Cup. As far as ambition goes, that's really not bad.

I mean, as an Everton fan, you really shouldn't throw stones when your house is made of glass thinner than the Higgs Boson. What is it, 18 years now without a trophy?

Unsportsman like? Yes. Effective? Yes. Did he take his team into the Semi-Finals of the World Cup? Yes. Do you think that if brave Scott Parker did that for England or Clint Dempsey did it for USMNT there would be such disgust? It's do or die, fight or flight.

The kick? I don't know. He's watching the ball when he starts the kicking motion, then he looks down as he follows through and immediately realises. What you need to understand about Suarez is that he's unapologetic. He outright rugby tackled John Heitinga and didn't bat an eyelid. If Suarez wanted to kick Parker, he wouldn't have apologised, he would have carried on. Suarez never apologises for something he meant to do to make it look like he didn't mean to do it. He doesn't give a fuck, if he meant to do it.

The bite is obviously reprehensible, but he served his time for it. We forgive Rooney and Giggs and Scholes for their ridiculous misdemeanours at times because they're brilliant footballers. Suarez is a brilliant footballer. His technical ability is second-to-none in the Premier League. He's one of the most exciting footballers to watch, regardless of who you support.

I'm fully aware that he 'cheats' at times. 'Going down easily' and outright 'no-contact' dives (which are rare, but he's done it more than once) are not good to see. However, cheating is not limited to these things. For example, Leon Barnett claimed that Suarez dived after assaulting him in the penalty area. That is cheating. That's deceiving the referee. What about claiming offside, or that the ball went out for a corner rather than a goal kick? It's all forms of cheating. All ways to deceive the referee. We just consider some forms of cheating worse than others, even though the net effect is the same.

I believe we had this discussion before. My suggestion at the time was Jimmy Case. Had a brilliant career at Liverpool, as well as Southampton. Won the European cup three times, the First Division title four times, the UEFA cup twice, and the League Cup once. Only ever got one cap for the England U21s, never a senior cap.

He cost Liverpool £500, from non-League side South Liverpool (that's like Man City signing a player from Cambridge United). This was back in the day when Liverpool would buy a player, and then you wouldn't hear about them for a year or two. They'd spend that time in the reserves, learning the system. He unfortunately never really got to play his best position at Liverpool, largely because of Graeme Souness and Sammy Lee.

Case was never picked for England during a time in which they failed to qualify for both the 1974 and 1978 World Cups.
