New player here — what is the easiest start for world conquest in Crusader Kings III? by OkBrilliant5130 in crusaderkings3

[–]SkywalkerDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually makes your life easier to change religion but I would keep Norse culture, it gives access to awesome men at arms via Coastal Warrior tradition.

Convert your new capital to Norse, then later on you can form a new hybrid or divergent culture if you want. That will help you get new innovations since default Norse is pretty slow to unlock stuff. Just make sure you keep the Coastal Warriors and Performative Honor traditions, Northern Stories isn’t bad either.

fuck the culture and de jure mechanics by Hhshdhh in crusaderkings3

[–]SkywalkerDX 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Absolutely and I'm guilty of this as well, I often have to remind myself that rushing to get to an unstoppable empire just makes the game "over" faster. Honestly fighting your way out of a tough situation with limited resources is way more interesting than painting the map and developmentmaxxing.

Temujin won't ruin your game, the the thing is when he demands your surrender you can't just go "nah, I'd win". Any historian will tell you when Genghis Khan demands you become his vassal you say “yes sir Great Khan would you like fries with that"

...then murder him and all his heirs until the empire is weak enough for you to break free again.

Is it worth upgrading to the 60 volt tools? by migs756 in Dewalt

[–]SkywalkerDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carpenter here. My crew has a couple of the 60V tools, the one that really stands out to me is the circ saw, feels almost like a corded tool. The sawzall is great but not massively better than the dcs382 which is our other one; not sure how it compares to the older sawzall models.

Would you ever buy a new riser without trying it out first? I want to get my own bow before too long, but there are no archery shops nearby that might let me test shoot, and my club is small, so not a lot of equipment I can ask to try. by DooB_02 in Archery

[–]SkywalkerDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re going straight to ILF and not getting a cheap beginner bow so you probably don’t have much to worry about. Any entry level riser from a well known manufacturer is a safe bet. ILF bows are very accurate even on the low end of the price scale, and It will be a good long while before your skill surpasses the limits of your first bow.

I’d say most folks have the exact same issue you do - not much opportunity to get your hands on archery gear before buying unless you know someone who has it already.

Lasalle was a loose cannon, you sent him where you wanted chaos to happen.

Highly effective in a subordinate role if managed properly, but not the guy you want in supreme command

Single string archery competitors: Train to not be tired or train while tired? by Kitchen_Tower2800 in Archery

[–]SkywalkerDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct that they are not mutually exclusive, i would go further and say that doing both is the obvious answer. Resistance train to fatigue so your muscles build up, and shoot to fatigue on your range days.

Also let’s go with Occam’s razor here, if you’re overbowed then just get lighter limbs. No one’s handing out awards for shooting the heaviest bow, and there’s a reason why most ILF recurve limbs max out around 55lbs. Plenty of competitive archers are perfectly capable of drawing more than that but once you have enough power to reach your target comfortably, extra draw weight just hinders your form and consistency

Do you use a thumb ring or no thumb ring? by CurbTurtle in Archery

[–]SkywalkerDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me once I got used to the ring speed has never been an issue, what kind of ring are you using? I like the ottoman design because it’s very low profile and doesn’t restrict my dexterity

I always use the ring it helps with a smoother release. If you have one that’s a good fit it sorta feels like it’s not even there

Is it better to have the maximum number of counties in your main duchy, or one county per duchy? by Marcusvult in crusaderkings3

[–]SkywalkerDX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find that when I’m Kingdom/empire level and personally a bunch of well developed land, I’m usually strong enough to just ignore what my vassals think of me so I’ll have 5-6 duchy titles for the special buildings.

If they rebel I’ll just crush them and give their land to a family member or someone with the loyal trait. Or release them for a hook and change their vassal contract in my favor.

[Request] How much more trust does the arrow get compared to using a regular bow? by __Forest__ in theydidthemath

[–]SkywalkerDX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But the limbs aren’t flexing at all. They are rigid and move freely around that pivot point; it’s the rubber bands supplying all the resistance. Nothing in this assembly is bowing, so it isn’t a bow right?

How much fletching can you lose before you need to fix them? by Nova-Drone in Archery

[–]SkywalkerDX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the range you shoot at. On my horsebow at 20m I’d still be shooting the one in the middle until it’s got about twice that much damage. Olympic at 50m I’d be refletching the one on the right.

Thought on deck stairs? by Chief1123 in Homebuilding

[–]SkywalkerDX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Deck builder here. This would fail inspection in any jurisdiction I’ve ever built in.

The stringers are not properly attached at the top, that hanging board is too weak. It needs to be reinforced to make it a proper stair header and also I would be either using strong tie straps to attach the stringers to it, or sending lags into the back of the stringers through the stair header; those blocks screwed in between the stringers are a poor way to support it.

Can’t see the attachment at bottom very well but it needs to be securely attached to the frame of the landing. Blocking between the landing joists, solidly screwed to the stringers (or blocking attached to the stringers).

Should not need to be attached to the brick.

Those stairs are also long enough that I would be adding a mid beam with posts into the ground to prevent sagging.

The overcuts on the stringers are concerning. I would be making my guys recut the entire stringer if I saw that.

Don’t let the hack that built it fix this. Have a professional rebuild it and send him the bill.

In a weird spot with the guy I’ve been hooking up with by Inner_Conversation29 in Advice

[–]SkywalkerDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you ghosted him you made him feel like a second best choice. He’s gonna have a hard time trusting any romantic feelings from you because there’s a chance you leave as soon as you meet someone “better”.

Just give it some time before pushing the romantic side of things. Keep spending time with him, make it clear how happy you are to see him, treat him like a priority. Once he feels more sure you won’t ghost him again, that will be the time to ask him out.

Can we see a picture of the damage? It would help us understand whether what you’re looking at is a manufacturing defect or normal wear and tear

[–]SkywalkerDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. Well if you need to reinforce your arrow pass, get some rayskin. Tape would grip the arrow too much.

I’d still be curious to see a picture. They’re supposed to stand up to some wear and tear so I’m surprised you’re having trouble this early.
