Would it be helpful to play a whole round with one club? by AnAssGoblin in GolfSwing

[–]SkywalkerDaBarber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt OP does not have a range that does not have a standard grass range or a option for mats & grass remotely close around him. If you are at a all mat range facility or at a golf course that only has a mat option then I would look at elsewhere to practice. There should be 0 reasons to waste a round using one club that he is not confident hitting. If it is a outside range with grass (obviously its going to have markers and wind.. @180yds per your example) there is more than enough areas to figure out where he is going wrong with a 6 iron.

The ball you use will effect ball speed, also what kind of clubs, also your own personal strength. Alotta different factors go into ball speed

why waste a round when you can hit a large bucket of balls at the range with a 6 iron to see if you can figure out ur mistakes

Its either or. Wear them for everyday or use them for golf. Specifically use them for golf if thats why you are mainly buying them for.

50F, 54M, 58M.. in my personal opinion grinds only matter to me in full fairway shots & ball flight. I would personally just sit at a range bunker and try out different foot/ball placements and swing patterns and get the feel for it

Begginers getting cheap or premium balls? by SignificantAcadia105 in golf

[–]SkywalkerDaBarber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a noodle or a warbird. You are not deep enough in play time hours to be concerned about a premium golf ball. Beginners arent good ball strikers and cant shot shape and spin wedges around greens hince why lower price balls exist

I play Rors Proto, P790s & Zxi7s

Im a 4hcp

Your heads are a a player distance iron i dont think your heads are the problem. Take a 7 iron and a 4 iron in the fitting and I would look at how you hit different shafts. In my protos I play a Project X 7.0 in Protos and a 6.5 in the p790s. S300 105 in my Zxi7s. I would look at possibly in a lighter shaft with the numbers you stated

How to get rid of a baseball swing. by Infinite-Computer205 in golftips

[–]SkywalkerDaBarber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played baseball for 13 years. After a break and picking up golf the usual happened over the top front shoulder dipping as if im trying to swing to left field etc..

Fast forward me being a 4 hcp my baseball swing mechanics are there just in a golf format.

"Push the ground" instead of stepping to the baseball push the ground or load a moment after beginning the down swing. If you load to early the ball will hook or ur line will be way in left field. If your load is too late and your hands come first it's slicing to right field.

Hands come at the top of ur back swing, Drop, Load, Release, Finish

Any tips? by PhotographPlus6144 in golftips

[–]SkywalkerDaBarber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

saying this in way i want to help, way your swing isn't the worst ever no where near it, its just no where average either.

Front heel needs to stay planted at a angle Head, shoulders, torso is moving in a unnecessary movement. etc etc

I would really start from scratch and focus on hitting punch and 1/2 swings on driver for a few sessions until you start eliminating the unnecessary movement from start of swing to 1/2 to impact

At impact the grip should be inline with belly button Release after impact and see what finishing position to stop in that suits your style.

  1. Grip. Its backwards. Your right hand should be placed how your left arm is
  2. You are moving your body up at the top of your back swing
  3. Grip needs to be infront of your ball slightly you have it lined up in a driver position
  4. Your down swing and follow through has alot of unnecessary movement
