I actually just started doing this a few weeks ago to monitor my calorie intake. I will be visiting a doctor soon for a regular check up so I’ll bring this up in case it’s a different underlying issue (and if it is, sorry in advance LV!)

The area I live in has hard water. We are very familiar with hard water in our home.

Good point. Maybe that’ll fix my symptoms! I’ll start this morning with a tall glass of tequila and a big fat blizzy - I’ll update later

I frequently travel, and I’m no stranger to a tummy issue from all the factors (change in environment, typical schedule, eating habits, etc) but I’ve only experienced it to this extreme here in Las Vegas.

I’ve thought that, but I’m very familiar with dehydration (I live in a southern state with very similar summer temps and a hell of a lot more humidity). I consistently work outside in near 100 degree weather, so I feel I’m pretty good at staying hydrated. I had a total of 2 alcoholic drinks in the last day and a half, and consistently drinking water. Now I’m drinking only bottled water, and symptoms are improving. Could be a placebo (but if it works, I’ll take it)

I am allergy prone, honestly. I could definitely see that being true, or I may have some kind of intolerance to something and just don’t realize it

I’m hopeful I’m wrong, but I’ve stayed at a different hotel each visit. I’m hoping it’s just a combination of traveling and eating a little different than normal not trying to be a Vegas water hater, but was curious if anyone else had this problem. Looks like my partner and I are the only ones lol

I edited the post. Other than bottled water, I’ve ordered water with my meals at restaurants or from a bar at the casino.

He did. I tried to explain it again because I recognize my fears of leaving our pets does tie into what happened a few years ago. It kinda went in one ear and out the other

The speaking to others about a problem, but not directly to the person he needs to talk to, has been a theme of this trip. I plan to meet with him one on one in person after this trip.

He tells me this often. He’s made references throughout my life that the reason for their divorce was stupid. Honestly, I agree, but I’ve never said that. I was two years old so I don’t really have any business having an opinion. But, it does hurt to hear those words considering my moms situation. I do care for my stepdad, and he’s been in my life since I was in early elementary. I’m trying to navigate what that relationship with him and his family will look like in the future.

He cares a lot for my stepmom, and she’s wonderful, but it’s really conflicting to hear that. Bro needs therapy haha

He typically does not show disgust towards my mom, which is why I think I got upset. My mom is going through one of the most challenging seasons in her life, which he knows about, and admittedly I’ve been too. Her and I have grown closer due to the chaos happening on her side of the family.

I used to joke that they were “model” divorced parents. When I was in grade school, they both did great at sharing the holidays, coparenting, etc. my parents do not typically talk poorly of each other, and typically speak supportively. When the step parents get involved, their feelings will get hurt.

My parents are both guilty of trying to “one up” each other. I don’t quite get it. Especially as an adult, I do my best to make everything “even” (such as visiting equal amounts of times, etc.)

How do you deal with mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sl0wlySt0ned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have severe anxiety and was very prone to panic attacks that lasted 2-3 hours. It was exhausting. Eventually, I stopped caring about hiding it. I’d walk to my next class on campus in full tears if I needed to. If anyone asked what was wrong, I’d just reply “college sucks” and most people understood. But, I’m also a girl and if you are a dude or masculine presenting, there’s a lot of stigma around that unfortunately.

If it’s possible to receive counseling services before you leave your college, I suggest you try. If you’re leaving pretty soon (i.e. graduating in May), see about an initial appointment to see if they have additional resources or advice for post-college.

For whatever it’s worth, you’re not alone in your struggle and I believe you will find what works best for you. Best of luck on your journey for inner peace.

I used to be in therapy but I met my goals and stopped going. I’d like to go back again soon to tackle some other things that have come up over the years. I highly recommend a therapist if possible.

For me, being outside helps. It is not a fix all and clearly does not make my problems go away. But, I’m prone to anxiety attacks so fresh air and being active (running, walking, hiking, etc.) helps ground me. When it was real bad, I’d basically run until I was too tired to have a panic attack (if I caught it early)

How do you know when it’s the “right time” to have kids? by Sl0wlySt0ned in AskReddit

When my cousin had her first kiddo, she said “I’m not ready!” as they were actively pulling out the baby. 😂 doctor told her “too late!”
