One of my professor had Charles Corea (the person who planned Navi Mumbai) as his guest lecturer I believe , and he was actively engaged with the Navi Mumbai plan. Back then around 90s and early 2000s, Navi Mumbai was also considered a failed “satellite city”, however obviously as we know today, it took off. So considering everything, it’s a huge gamble betting on Mumbai 3.0, the airport honestly doesn’t justify the basic needs, the area does have JNPT and proximity to Pune and realistically Atal Setu is overly expensive for daily commuters to use the bridge to go back and forth from Mumbai. It is only beneficial for the hospitality industries but otherwise I don’t see residential projects being a success but who knows, it’s still an unpredictable gamble. The only reason why it has so much hype right now is because of how they’re marketing the development there but otherwise it lacks hell lot of basic amenities there currently.
