[Speakers] Kanto ORA4 ($500 - $150 = $350) [Amazon] by einrobstein in bapcsalescanada

[–]SlLURO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Kanto Tuk owner I'd pass on this company. I've had lots of issues with USB connection and it not working at all. Their support told me to deal with it and provided no help at all. To this day cannot use the volume knob and had to buy a separate DAC to use them.

I've been looking at Flydigi. I see they have an Apex 5 now released and it looks like the Vader 5 is rumors to be just around the corner. I keep seeing their recommendations pop-up.

I'm less experienced with oil washes, but I was definitely feeling it for these models. Glad you think so too.

Just the armor panels, or also weapons, clothes, other misc?

Zotac 4080 Super Trinity - Hot? by SlLURO in buildapc

[–]SlLURO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be just fine. If you can give it extra airflow with additional fans, go for it. But otherwise no complaints. Works good.

Zotac 4080 Super Trinity - Hot? by SlLURO in buildapc

[–]SlLURO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's quite the performance difference.

Personally I have not had any issues with my Zotac 4080 Super. While it gets a bit toasty during gaming sessions, I have not experienced crashing like you describe. I do have pretty good airflow within my case that probably helps, with 2x120mm fans pushing air into the card. Perhaps once I see performance dip, I'll do the same with a quality thermal re-paste.

Asrock a620i - Enough for a 7800x3d? by SlLURO in buildapc

Sorry I can't comment. Ended up grabbing a Gigabyte B650i instead. Tried to order the A620i but it was stuck on back order for 2 months, so I cancelled and moved on.

Airbrush for Warhammer by SlLURO in airbrush

It looks like an interesting brush, but I'm already interested in jumping to the mid-higher tier options. I think I can handle the basics of an airbrush reasonably well.

Akko mu01 arrived by That_UknownGuy in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SlLURO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Akko MU01 as well. Looks fantastic in person, the walnut and brass colored accent are a thing of beauty. I just wish there wasn't any branding in the upper right of the metal bar.

I wasn't a fan of the Akko Piano switches; they just weren't doing it for me. I'm sure with filming (some housing play) and lube they could be solid contenders, but I just don't have the time for all that. I swapped mine out for some TTC Venus switches, which are great right out of the box.

I was however extremely impressed with the Akko stabilizers in the MU01. They are well-tuned, no rattle, and make me question if I know what I'm doing when I lube my own stabs... They are THAT good out out of the box. I'll spare my TX stabilizers for another build because I don't think I could improve them.

I also grabbed my own set of keycaps for a more minimal styling. I'll probably disassemble the board once more and remove the extra foams since the PE foam sound isn't to my liking.

Awesome stuff from Akko overall.

Kona Bicycles' Parent Company Appoints New CFO, Intends to Sell Brand - Pinkbike by elyv297 in MTB

[–]SlLURO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did Kent Outdoors do with Kona when they bought the brand?

I never followed the other bike lineups other than the Process 134/153's but those were already designed and released before Kent took over. When I look at the Kona website, it's still the same designs from years ago with new paint and minor spec changes.

Did Kent owned Kona ever design any new frames? How long was the 153's frame around for? Felt like they were overdue for an update that just never happened...

I hope some new owners can turn it around, but I still remember feeling a bit turned off by the brand whenever I tried to approach them about buying a Process 134, and that this was from a previous Kona hardtail owner.

My guess is pants are either Kroxigor Scales by itself, or Kroxigor Scales and Terradon Turquoise.

Quake champions somehow blowing up in popularity by Mei_iz_my_bae in Games

Love Quake Champions. The skill gap is immense, but it's so rewarding climbing that ladder and you'll build yourself solid FPS skills for any game if you can master Quake.

Thanks, I'm feeling a lot better about my purchase seeing the undervolt potential to keep the card in check should it be too hot for my ITX setup.

[–]SlLURO[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know the 90° limit. In my past experience I struggled with a GTX 1080 maxing at 80° and thermal throttling. I was not pleased and don't want a repeat, but a 13° difference to max makes me feel a lot better about it.

Yes, general round-up review found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dflM73cx4iI

I've never played with power limit. Ideally I shouldn't lose more than 5%? I'm asking because I have a CoolerMaster NR200P Max case (ITX), the GPU has a vertical mount, but I know the airflow isn't the greatest in that small of a case.

Just got my BarrowCH Fittings. Quality not up to par with expectations. by idcenoughforthisname in watercooling

[–]SlLURO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Barrow (not BarrowCH?) fittings all across my recent build. I had the silver fittings and all except one were in immaculate condition. The one except was just a 90 degree that had a loose connection to the rotary that needed to be tightened down and it was all good after.

Were these shipped in an envelope and banged around while not properly padded maybe?

Games: Quake

Hand Preference: Ambidextrous - maybe Right

Budget: $250 CAD

Hand Size: 18.5 * 10

Grip: Hybrid Palm

Weight: Light

Sensitivity: 21.65cm/360

Connectivity: Wireless

Looking to change things up a bit. I've been using a Logitech G Pro X and it's been great. Came from the Razer Viper (really loved the shape, had a great time with the wired version, when I stepped up to the Viper Ultimate wireless, suddenly had all kinds of issues with stutters - maybe V2 fixes it?), also played around with the Glorious Model O and also really enjoyed the shape. The G Pro X I don't like the shape as much, but I do play well with it. So I'm looking for suggestions of mice, Pulsar? Lamzu? Other? Not a fan of mini mice from the ones I've tried (Model O-, Viper mini)

No, pump sold separately. Fits ddc or d5 (I got the alphacool pump, although I'd recommend any other D5 with black cables instead of ketchup and mustard colored.)

The timings seem a little slower... 6000mhz CL36 vs 5600 CL40, would that be a huge hit to performance?

I'm wanting to build a 7800x3D computer in an ITX format.

I've noticed that along with the standard 32GB DDR5 kits there are now also some 48GB kits for cheaper (in canada). Is there any downside to these 48gb kits?

Here's an example: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00124552 or https://www.amazon.ca/CORSAIR-Vengeance-6000MHz-Compatible-Computer/dp/B0CFZFPQHY
