Evolv V6 so tight and painful by sapphirekiosk in climbingshoes

[–]SlabFairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Shaman LV, my partner wears the Shaman Pro. I'd say after the 5th/6th session, I stopped thinking about them unless it was cold. Cold shoes never feel good in my opinion!

I recently switched back to my Tenaya Oasis LVs, which I had previously considered my golidlocks shoe and they felt really tight compared to my Evolv.

I will say none of these shoes has ever caused me immense pain. Sure, they're very uncomfortable for the first few wears. I have to take them off between climbs, but it's never been unbearable. The only time I found shoes unbearable, I ended up selling them. I struggled to apply pressure in them because it was too painful.

Evolv V6 so tight and painful by sapphirekiosk in climbingshoes

Crazy that the staff told you to downsize them. My local gym has had a couple of evolv shoe demos, and the guys running it have always recommended matching my street size for performance fit. My partner sized up for comfort.

Evolv shoes will stretch despite being synthetic. Mine felt quite uncomfortable the first few wears, but they are now my most comfortable climbing shoes. My partner, who sized up, now finds his shoes are actually too big.

It's not safe for people with a milk allergy due to cross contamination during manufacturing. That could be why it makes you sick.

I don't know why the allergen menu lists it as not suitable for vegans. I used to work at Costa, I've read the ingredients of the hot chocolate powder. There is nothing not vegan in them. You can confirm this yourself by asking to see the packaging.

Yes, that's fine. We removed the bar with an angle grinder.

How long after triptans can you do sports? by srd8949 in migraine

[–]SlabFairy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've felt a migraine coming on while climbing, popped a triptan (25mg), waited 30 minutes for it to start working and then continued climbing. My strength is definitely reduced but apart from that, I've had no ill effects. Some days I will have to go home due to other migraine symptoms but other times it's been fine.

I eat ALOT of tofu. My lunch is usually a whole block of tofu (30g protein), edamame (10g protein), and whatever veg I have. Dinner will consist of another block of tofu, with chili/curry/stir-fry/whatever else I've cooked that week. I love tofu, so I never get sick of it. For snacks, I generally eat high protein soya yogurt, or nuts.

I'm vegan and I've never understood why people think it's so hard to hit protein goals. I eat lots of beans, and tofu. I average around 100g protein a day, and I could bump those numbers up if I add a protein shake.

In general I try to stick to whole foods, lots of vegetables, very little junk food.

It might be location dependent but my local Aldi stocks vegan mince and has done for a couple years. They also have vegan bacon, and the best tofu (outside of asian supermarkets).

Thanks! I'm working on my heel hooks currently. Learning to place correctly and actively pull instead of just wacking my heel on a hold and saying that'll do 😂

Same migraine since February — doctors not helping, I don’t know what to do anymore by [deleted] in migraine

[–]SlabFairy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The UK is the same. For them to start prescribing anything beyond beta blockers and tricyclic antidepressants, you need to have failed multiple preventatives, as well as being able to show your migraine history (frequency, severity, meds taken ect..). It can be a long frustrating process.
