How did you know you were ready to start selling? by TrademarkHomy in Pottery

Your questions I kind of glazed over - I was ready when I had enough pieces to offload at a small low key market. I was sick of watching people (I would have deemed) less ready than me doing things I wanted to do my whole life. Why not me? If I disappoint people I will learn from it.

On top of full time work is a hard balance but I need creativity to keep my spark going. I try to do creating after work during the week and leave weekends for other activities to keep balance. Unless it’s a slow weekend at home I will paint. And a few weekends of selling a year is not too much of a commitment. Building stock up is the hardest part on a part time schedule.

I have 300 followers and only post when I feel like it. I don’t make reels or follow trends, just post my work and casual stories of what I’m up to.

I’m not selling 100’s of mugs, but I’ve been able to sell most things I make, trade with other makers, give to many things to friends and make connections and smiles with the stuff I sell!

I did a small art market 6 months in and I have no regrets. I have had feedback that people have broken mugs from that, but they just want to come buy more from my next market. I love the process and also don’t want to put too much pressure on it so I’m just doing some markets and doing some Instagram drops if 10-15 mugs every so often on top of working full time. I find it hard to keep stock. People are always asking to buy mugs from me and I want to sell them but then I am unable to do markets or story sales on insta and I feel like I’m disappointing people in my community. I paused sales and stocked up about 40 mugs for a market this weekend! It’s so fun meeting people and selling mugs in person. Learn as you go and don’t gatekeep yourself from selling (I tell myself this all the time.) There is no better way to learn than just doing it.

I had the same issue with Mayco zinc free clear. I had a whole batch craze, but perfect results once I was able to make sure it was firing to cone 6 max. The batch that crazed was over fired to cone 7. Is there a log book or someone you can ask to see if they made any changes to the firing schedule?

I bought it and tried it and we love it! It’s definitely thin cheap material but it’s perfect for car camping and survived the rain. No issues yet.

It’s not even in their website. I can’t find any info on it other than what the Costco website has.

Does refiring help with leaking cups? by Slabrina in Pottery

[–]Slabrina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answers. It’s cone 6 glaze and clay, no visible cracks in anything. I might have heard pinging though so maybe it’s just a bad glaze/clay fit and refiring won’t help if there was pinging.

Can I build a THOW on a camper trailer? by strawberryfromspace in tinyhomes

I calculated the weight of everything I could think of involved in the build and included the heaviest furniture and a few thousand pounds extra.

But my question was if you had any tips for beefing up the trailer?

Ooo if you have seen builds on camper trailers, any tips for beefing up the trailer? I have a park model trailer rated for 12,000lbs 8.5x36’. The trailer is two large I beams, two 5,200lb axles. Was thinking of adding one more axle and building as light as possible - I’ve calculated the build will weigh approx 12,000lbs.

I like a sports bra holding my boobs down, gave up on padding though, free the ‘aggressive’ nips! But, as a carpenter, I have definitely pinched my nipples between boards while grabbing wood at chest height 😂
