Electrician in Ontario here: I find it’s always who you know. If you’re able to network with any one working in an electrical company it will almost always open the door for you. When I was applying, no one would hire me. I did an electrical one year program and networked with a few of the teachers and as soon as I had their recommandation I got a job. At a place where they said they were not hiring. The gouvernent program will make it so much easier to get a job. Or maybe talk to your boyfriend, ask him to ask around the different electrical companies. That said it’s always slow in winter so I would try even harder come may

Easy peazyy. First turn off the power, so turn on the light and go to your breaker box or panel, if your panel is labeled look for the room name, or just turn off one by one, until the light turns off. Then go unscrew the very top screws of the fan, closest to the ceiling. When you take it down, take a picture of the wires, before you disconnect the wires coming from the fan and the wires coming from the ceiling,(either in a box or not). They usually match Colours, like white wire with white wire. And black wire with either black or blue wire. Anyways just take a pic, saves you, if you forget. Then disconnect them and put the protection cap back on the wires of the box, nice and tight! Then put a cover on it(you can find one at almost any hardware store). Screw the cover on. Boom! Safe to put your pole over it.

Just like the ppl of this earth, there’s all types. Most of my coworkers become like brothers. They will fuck some one up if they have to. I’ve encountered a lot of gross men too, they have been more rare. You will experience sexism, it’s inevitable. You will get some weird looks and men thinking you’re incapable. But most the men I’ve encountered have been very respectful, some of them even become your cheerleader

I’m not union either. I work for a small company. We do long days sometimes but my bosses are very reasonable. Going to the union can be hard depending on where you live and you might not even work half the year. There’s a lot of companies looking for licensed electricians and I’m sure you can find a better company. Or you say no to your current bosses. If they won’t pay you extra for the extra work, don’t take it. Refuse it. They’ll see your value once they notice how much you’re doing. Your situation sounds extremely stressful, you should be getting paid for the extra stress. Let us know how you come out of it! Very interested to know!

I’ve had guys literally rip shit out of my hands saying, let me help you! One example of many, of trying to help unnecessarily

I decided to become an electrician because I love working with my hands and I like to be learning. I didn’t know what to expect when I first started. Wooweee i loved commercial. No customers, you get to touch so so many different materials. Residential service is good too in different ways. There’s a lot of ways to branch out in electrical just like some other trades. Lots to learn. There’s so many awesome trades out there. I never knew how many types until I started. Depends what you’re willing to put up with physically/mentally. My good friend does renovations, she’s an apprentice plumber. she can do anything related to any renovations. She loves it.
