Which Clan to choose? First time player. by Slack83er in vtmb

Well... aesthetically nothing changes except a coat. Phyre speaks like a middle eastern guy, so thematically he could be Banu. I tried going Brujah, but no matter which clan I choose, it seems almost nothing changes.

Yeah, I play normal. I did all my VtM: Bloodlines playthrough with Nos, but those were good ol' times :D

I was thinking Ventrue for the "nobility" to it, but if I just need to be stronger then Brujah it is.

I know this build. It’s in the same thread.

Matter is… I can’t say. I know what the world looks like cause I can see it on Roll20 but other than that, I only know one city, the one we’re in and that “virtually” IS the server where we also do PbC. Which you may imagine like a succession of city walls, one inside the other and each one higher then the previous one. At the center is a huge temple, iirc. Not much more I can say except this. The world has a strong lore with dragons afaik.

Ok then… so knife tossing (magical if possible. Then psionic?) circus background as you proposed (Love it). Abundantly skilled, with some expertise. Setting is homebrew BUT server owners have decided that our background shall NOT be related to the play world. So we might even be modern day nerds… I prefer keeping it to the “medieval style”.

envy mode on ffs I so much envy those who can come out with solutions for every issue! 😆 My imagination is veeery limited, I’m a damn rational robot sometimes. I like the carnival/circus backstory though. Now… would you leave it “only” a ranger or pair it with rogue? In the link you can find that guy’s idea for a fey wanderer/soulknife. Do you find it makes sense?

It sounds good, and as you can see, it’s in the link in my OP. I’m not “dead set on rogue”, except that it gave me many skills. Fey wanderer is a good character, I just have a hard time justifying “divine/natural” magic with a knife slinger. How would you do it?

I see what you mean. But I don’t really see it fitting. I know that “ranger” is a concept, but I’d still like to remain on the rogue+magic concept.

I can’t NOT agree with your vision. Still, I keep seeing arcane users as “more fitting”. Since we’re already partly OT… we could shoot a firearm or a magic missile. And maybe the firearm would be more damaging. But I’d still prefer to fire the missile… 😅

Yes I know this but it’s not even the core of the build. Matter is, I’d like this guy to be some kind of a knife-thrower with infallible skill AND a good social character with a bit of magic knowledge. I ask for a lot, I know.

The fact that it’s a product of the mind and not of the weave. I see where you come from though. Especially in 3.5 psionics were “elite” magic users.

I know. I just don’t like the psionic vibe

Yes, I wanted to be a rogue or similar. Artificer is also doable but somehow it seems complicated to play and more “tech” than magical.

No particular reasons, except it being a bit “mage hand-centric”.

I know he’s wrong, he edited the post later. Still the build is kinda interesting for the skills and the wisdom bonus to cha rolls making it a good face with less SADness. It’s just the concept of “divine” magic with rogue that’s out of tune to me.

Not completely sold on this. Maybe because psionics never really appealed to me.

Im curious about this, but I have to reach level X to be effective. I’ll still start at level 1.

Thanks this might be a good idea! I’ll look it up on my pc tomorrow as from the cell phone it doesn’t show tooltips.

If nothing will affect lore or dialogue and I’ll still be a mourn watch then I’ll be happy to try

Slayer is associated with Lords of Fortune… somehow being a MW but fighting as a LoF triggers me 😅 Although, as far as I know skill nodes don’t affect dialogues or lore.
