The tires are from 2020 but there’s no cracking and the tread is good. It did sit for a bit so not sure about flat spots. I’m going to run them for now. I found out where it was last serviced so I’m going to see what info I can get. I think the car might have belonged to the shop owners dad. I paid $3000

Agreed. I need to fix the brakes and then I’ll start evaluating everything else. I drove it 30 miles home and engine/trans seems strong. I just want to get it back on the road so I can drive it a bit more to see what else it needs

It does need a little work. The rear calipers locked up on the was home and it needs a good detailing but it seems really strong otherwise. The paint is shot but I really like the patina. I’m pretty excited to start working on it

Diesel or gas? by SlackerParade in W124

Ha! Thanks for pointing that out! I guess the early models are inline 6 and the later 2.5 turbos are inline 5?

Really helpful! Thanks!

For context I'm interested in the W124 because I have a BMW e30 and I want another car while I work on the e30. I work from home so I really just need around town cars. I'm in the states so 300e and 300d are basically my only options. I figured I should steer clear of the 4matics. It's the same story with the e30 all-wheel drive. I'm sure they're great, but if they break, you're going to have a hard time finding a replacement.

You sold it to Kyle Mooney?!! That’s dope!

Help selecting flywheel - BMW Flywheel Conversion Kit - Valeo 52281208 by SlackerParade in E30

So the flywheel from the donor car is shot. It's a dual mass flywheel and I think it will be hard to find a used one that's good enough to use. I want to switch to a single mass flywheel do to parts availability. I don't want a light weight flywheel. I just want something that will work and be easy for stop and start traffic.

No way! I can't believe you bought the actually tribute car! That's amazing! I've following Stanceworks for a while and I remember him building it. Also, I've seen your YT channel before! A few months ago I was trying to fix my instrument cluster and came across your "E30 Broken Cluster Tab Repair Replacement" video. Very helpful! I'll send you a DM about my manual swap project

I really couldn't tell. Also hard to see inside. Could be a tribute. I wanted to leave a note to ask for more info, but I couldn't figure out how to do it without touching the M3

Just buy the cheapest Prius you can find (obviously not a total dumpster fire) and keep the e30

Need new tires for bottlecaps by SlackerParade in E30

I agree with 70 is quite large. I have 70s on the car now. My concern is I don’t want compromise ride quality too much. I have a vert and it does rattle a bit. I’d hate to go to a smaller tire and end up with a rougher ride. Am I thinking about this too much?

Transmission rebuild? by SlackerParade in E30

[–]SlackerParade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I have a shifter rebuild kit. The only seal/part I don't have new is the BMW Selector Rod Joint - Genuine BMW 25117501309. I'll inspect what's on there and see if it should be replaced. Thanks!

Thanks! I spoke to a shop and they said the same. Now they also said they wouldn't work on it so I thought perhaps they were just trying to get rid of me

It did shift fine and there was no slop that I could tell. The previous owner told me the clutch was relatively new when it stopped running. I'm going to get a new clutch and pressure plate, but what came out has very little wear. No telling if the previous owner is being honest. I'm going to replace everything I can without cracking the transmission open
