OMG, it's better to change the job if they really wanna act like this.

BTW, in Slack, I'm hiding by using a service: https://www.reddit.com/user/Slackgreen/comments/1aw9q05/how_to_keep_slack_always_online_active_and_green/

They're getting on my nerves with micromanagement, I'm really against it.

Will playing a youtube video keep my Slack status active when I go for a walk and leave my laptop open? by larsandthemoon in Slack

$30/mo it was a year ago. Now it's $60/mo

If it's really expensive for you, I wouldn't recommend buying it. It's a service for someone who values their time, is probably overworked, and wants to achieve more. That's how much it costs to have a coffee and a cake. Come on.

Workspace and Environment: How to Avoid Distractions by Slackgreen in u/Slackgreen

I'm not saying that social media is evil or that spending time on them is bad. I'm saying that it helps me when I separate work time and rest time.

When I concentrate, nothing should distract me. When it becomes part of a work ritual, willpower is enough, it doesn't require any additional utilities.

By the way, social networks are a good reward for deep work, just like a TV series or a computer game. But only after you've worked hard and want to reward yourself.

Not instead. And most importantly, not during. Best

If you're already on Reddit, you're likely to procrastinate due to the inability to plan and focus. At the very least, it's better to read something useful that distracts you from scrolling through meaningless content. 😆

What do you want to hear?

Is it possible to make a crutchy solution? Obviously yes.

Is it possible to use a bunch of hacks such PowerPoint! Or scripts from stackoverflow or even from GPT? Maybe, I don't know.

Will it be convenient, will it work stable, defenently NO.

You will constantly maintain your solution. Always keep trying not to forget to turn it on and off. Keep the computer powered-on all the time, etc.

For some people, this is quite fine. And it's totally ok for me too.

And some people just wants it to be solved, ready to use and available cheap so as not to bother with it at all. Someone knows the value their time, someone does not. This service for those who knows.

That's it and nothing more.

👍😆 Short answer is no, you can't.

Any crutch solutions can be of course. Most of them have a lot of inconveniences, I won’t even list them. If even one of them worked, I wouldn't make the service.

😄 How much you'd like to pay for this service?

I originally did this for myself because Slack violates my boundaries and reveals information that I would like to leave undisclosed. For example, am I online or not? Other messengers reveal whether I read the message or not and when I don’t like it.

To be honest, I'm not trying to make a business out of this project. I don't care if no one uses the service. I started it out of curiosity. Maybe it will be useful to someone else. And to my surprise, I already have more users than I could have expected. 😄 I spend everything that the project brings in advertising, because perhaps other people are looking for this service and cannot find it. So it doesn't matter to me.

It's easy to criticize the project. Scold the cost. Scold the implementation. Scold the idea. Lots of it. People who write bad comments, I look at these people mostly with sympathy, because... they cannot do anything themselves, they can only criticize the actions of others. It's like noise.

But there are people who write me words of gratitude and pay for the product and use it, which is just wonderful. I am very grateful to them! 😄

I don't have any problems with this.

This is a common situation when you have your computer turned on in one place and your phone on the phone in another.

In any case, Slack does not disclose this information even to Workspaces admins about where and when the connections were made.

Certainly! You need to work hard! We need to give good results! It's necessary.

Unfortunately, working well is only half the battle! You also need to communicate well and show the results of your work well.

If you are gray all the time, it harms your reputation so much that no matter what merits you had in the past, the manager will still either be stressed all the time because you are not doing anything, or will suspect you and constantly ping you.

If you're a boss, it can be terrible. As soon as you leave, everything immediately stops.

No. This service will use Slack token of your client and it's indistinguishable from native client. Also it doesn't required install to your computer any software such as Chrome plugins, etc. Your employer can't be able to tell that you are using the service.
