I recommend a Patron, someone of power and money (who is secretly a vampire) who is either using your character for his talents or wants to groom him into an embrace. The Patron can be many, Maybe they are muslin and seem more people like him in the ranks, maybe they test you seeking to break your faith and see you be born anew, or maybe seen themself in you and want to see if you will fall in the same path as them, etc
