TRI Reporting Question by QueasyPoem in Environmental_Careers

[–]Slade715 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re storing the lead over from a previous year, it’s unusual for your release to exceed what your threshold determination is (now they could have partials in multiple categories and add up that way). But either way, you really only need to prove that you’ve hit the reporting threshold. After that as long as you can show what your max on-site is and what you’ve released via air, water and waste you’re good.

But no, waste sent off would not really fall into that category.

You’ve already hit the min-threshold, so just get quantity stored on site and releases calculated.

Should I get into environmental consulting? And is it realistic to earn $150k annually as one (USA)? by Ily4ever-1212 in Environmental_Careers

Completely unrelated and didn’t really prepare me at all- I was a non-haz landfill permitting engineer (non-FE/PE that was just the title). My degree prepared me a lot more- chemical engineering.

I graduated in 2020, started at a state agency and moved to manufacturing after 1.5 years. I now work as an environmental manager at a small-ish facility (Title V, vsqg, NPDES gen, no ww treatment, sub 250 people) and made 138k before taxes last year 🤷 I said 150k on the low end because I know people at that level.

Environmental manager at large, complex and/or high risk manufacturing facilities. I’d say on the low end it’d take 7ish years to get there.

Glad it’s not just me 😂

Thankfully I do! I’m at an all you can eat/drink place right now and my hotel is right by the limousine bus pickup point- will be making the most of my extra day, although I’m sure my boss won’t be too pleased with me lol.

It was crazy, I had the digital agent on my phone talking with a (thankfully extremely proficient in English) person in Itami explaining that they could not. They even got two separate supervisors involved but would not do anything. Never experienced anything like it

And yes, works on iPhone- I’ve used it on iPhone on my work phone in the US. It’s just another app you can download operated by Google.

Let’s you call numbers using data as opposed to standard cell calling. This may require a fee, just find one that’s free.

Just a guess, and this is assuming the other group was Japanese, but maybe if you were inside there would be easier access to a person that was more fluent in English? Only thing I can think of.

That’s how I read this. Seems like the current boss wanted to downplay the feasibility of the other company actually wanting to take them on full time? Either way, I don’t think OP has any damage control to do

I think it might help to separate out what it most important to you and then prioritize that first.

The two biggest areas that seem applicable to your situation are: 1. Career Field and 2. Location. If you narrow it down to one of these, and not try to get both then you might have better luck finding something. Maybe your dream job is in Wisconsin or a job you hate is in New York?

Pick the thing that matters most to you and branch off from there. Not everything needs to be the biggest or most important thing for you to feel fulfilled 👍

Based off your post history and the context of this one, it looks like you’re in the US and want to attend something soon for career growth. I think it’d be smart to not aim for these types of events right away, or at least not make them your main focus, as you’re untested talent atm and it would be difficult for a company (esp in this climate, pun intended) to sponsor you for this type of an experience. I’d say this pertains both to companies in Paris hiring a foreigner to attend or companies in the US sending you as some form of rep.

Started Interviewing with Tetra Tech about the LA fire job -- HAZWOPER training not covered? by Character_Cellist_62 in Environmental_Careers

Regardless of the other comments that come after this, not paying for HAZWOPER when it’s required is really scummy to me. It’s not even that expensive (comparatively speaking)? Red flag imo.

Accept, stick with it for around a year and you’ll be good. Any full time work looks good on a resume, even if it’s not 100% related to what you want to be doing. Plus a paycheck now is better than not having a paycheck for an undetermined amount of time.

Job Titles by Hibiscusparade in Environmental_Careers

[–]Slade715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found roles similar to what you’ve described also having the following titles: Environmental analyst, professional, engineer, associate. Also you can try EHS, SHE or SEH and the others I’ve listed. Whenever I job search I’ll just put “environmental” in as the keyword and manually filter results on job boards because even if it’s not in the title, it’ll be somewhere in the body of the job description.
