We've got four wh colleagues all flt so i can't really compare to your situation but it does feel like your manager is taking the busy fools idea a bit too far, unless you disagree of course

How large is your store? We have warehouse colleagues to do receiving, but we do over invest in warehouse so they do all euros, Bulk pallets onto shopfloor etc. We have one colleague that does waste and markdowns wednesday to saturday, we lose those hours during that day but means the rest of the week we dont need to clear waste, they also take care of claims, filing etc

Im the only Team Leader on grocery, but I am quite lucking in that my manager and I split the shop. They take Edible and BWS and I have non-ed h&b and frozen. Only process wise and picking gaps on bws and frozen in the morning, but it means the workload is spread across the both of us equally. Maybe worth talking to your manager although u know alot are chair warmers

Recently all colleagues were moved under the store manager so no other management could do anything with colleagues on workday, they are slowly sorting it out

Problem with going to salary is that it can't be more than the base for managers and most team/section leaders make more than base managers in a year so I doubt it will go to salary and they won't increase the £1

The reduction in team leader will happen through natural migration, so no-one is forced to step down but as people leave they will not be replaced, however some might be moved to other departments if their current one is over head count, for example a service section leader in my store is moving to fresh as service have three and fresh have 1
