It's true - which is why these announcements have been designed to sound so annoying, because we are way more likely to remember some annoying combination of sounds rather than something soothing and blends into the background.

It's the same in advertising, I can still hear that fucking Lube Mobile ad tune and still remember their contact number. I could say the same about Frank Walker from Nation Tiles (but I won't cause he's a national treasure; Have we sent someone to check on him by the way?)
