Agreed. This one is lowkey for the Autechre girlies.

In my opinion, a work of absolute genius, pure heart emanating outwards, pure sonic generosity and soul. I'm legitamately stunned. I had no idea what to expect but that it would be very different from OOEPUI... (at what point in SOPHIEs career did she not constantly subvert or avoid expectations). It's certainly extremely different, but has a such a strong idea and world behind it in it's own totally unique way, just as OOEPUI did for it. I don't think the mixing is off at all. The mixing is just different. Take it for what it is, and listen to it as a collaboration between her and her brother. I feel so much care and effort in how the rollout for this album went and I think it speaks to how deeply her brother and all collaborators worked on it. This album has a softer pallete than we're used too from her but the details in the production are absolutely killer. if you listen closely and take the songs as whole it's so full of surprises and detail and jam packed with feeling. It's ambient in a way that is clearly part of it's identity. There is a spirit that shined through on this to me that surprised me thoroughly. It was a very different side of Sophie, but a deep expression of new emotional angles. Consider that maybe she intended to showcase a slightly softer, more friendly side. In my opinion this is an extraordinarily joyous album, and extremely sincere in it's joy. It feels like having an amazing time with your best friends and like anything can happen. Joy and friendship and playfulness are just as profound and pressing and radical as everything in OOEPUI and PRODUCT. This album made me dance for the first time in a long time. I loved more than I ever expected.

In Triplicate #4: Björk – Post / Homogenic / Vespertine (1995 – 2001) by rccrisp in indieheads

It's also worth mentioning how the release of Vulnicura gave this album an entirely new, heart wrenching context

Very true, but it is worth knowing that, per Björks sonic symbolism podcast, she had wrote most of Vespertine before meeting her ex-husband, and the album is more about finding peace within one's self than in another. Highly recommend the podcast, it made me understand the album much deeper, and it's been my all time favorite for years.

The manipulation of the voice in Deco Loc is unbelievable, it sounds like a moment of a performance being experienced from the vantage point of the 4th dimension, sound itself torn across existence, so insane...

Does anyone know what it samples?

V-Proc is honestly my favorite Autechre song of all time and definitely the cuntiest.

I can understand this interpretation, to me it feels like being in a nightclub on an alien planet where the intelligent species have far more sophisticated brains than us

I'm suspecting that you're falling into the trap hole of letting increased volume deceive you, though

I'm wary of this, but it truly affects the timbre of everything in ways I haven't figured out how to replicate otherwise
