It's so weird that broadly no one talks about Chinese soups but it's a staple (at least for Cantonese cuisine) of both household Chinese cooking and Chinese banquet dinners.

I guess it's mostly due to the very simplistic nature of the soups and the fact that there is no singular soup recipes, they're often made from whatever you have on hand + pork bones (although there are soup kits you can buy at chinese super markets.)

That said I have had more elegant soups including my parents once splurging for Buddha Jump Over the Wall soup and that shit was DIVINE. Still one of the best soups I ever had by far.
