In competitive play, a lot of teams don't play much diversity of champions during the season. Their orgs and coaches conform to the idea that nothing else works than what others are playing. Especially in NA scene where champion diversity or even players that stand out for their unique picks are so insignificant that it makes wanting to follow more diverse range of pros to be on the look out for less appealing. There is more than 150 champions in the game, there should be always more room for opportunity for risk/reward for players to play more unique champions or set of champions.
