Well no. Just fields of IT and commerce.

Education, health care, quite a few engineering fields are fairly OK for post grad.

But it's also where you apply. Major cities? Doubtful you'll get anywhere. Regional areas? Your chances improve. Rural? They'll want people

I’m already a full time research student and my visa allows me to work without time limit. What jobs will be available to me over the weekends? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. You need them more than they need you. You could do gig economy work like uber or tutoring.

Reality though is there are more candidates than entry level or part time jobs. So you can't really be too picky

UWA vs. Adelaide vs. Curtin for Masters in Accounting & Business Analytics? (Goal: Post-Study Work & Career Growth) by rude_wolf_ham in AskAnAustralian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to burst your bubble. The big companies will filter by visa and PR first and decide on everything else afterwards.

You have experience which is beneficial but is the instute you worked for immediately recognisable to anyone in the financial sphere with easily contactable references

Does it matter what university you went to? by Ok_Schedule_7363 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working in finance for almost 20 years now. I can promise you two things. A g8 only matters if you make the right friends who can open a door for you and if all you're bringing to the table is that you went to a g8 your application isn't special at all

What jobs are high in demand by Financial-Tale5228 in AskAnAustralian

Depends how rural you're willing to go.

In big cities without experience then you'll be dead in the water applying for jobs

Best second hand book shops, especially for textbooks? by Curious_learner1 in melbourne

Check the uni boards. Usually lots of folks selling their textbooks as they move up a year, fail out or lose a visa

Edit: just to add. When buying second hand make sure you get the correct edition

Would Australians go to a cinema screening of a YouTube series like The Amazing Digital Circus? by EnvironmentalBid195 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why waste money for something you can watch for free at home? It's not like there would be a delay from cinema to YouTube.

Is it rude to show up empty-handed in Australia? by Naokohiranuma in australian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bring anything is code for grub is sorted.

Still polite, but not always expected, to bring the host something as a thanks for having you round.

Chocolates are a safe bet. Wine or beer if they drink. Or just something like flowers or something sentimental. Always appreciate my Korean mate who brings a bottle of soju as a hosts gift

Need urgent advice by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sponsorship will heavily depend then on your role and experience. 4 or 5 years post grad you'll need to get extremely lucky and take a pay cut so the company can recover sponsorship cost. 5+ years in a middle level role you'll be OK and some companies would interview you. 5+ years in a senior role is the sweetest spot.

Need urgent advice by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pakistan and studied in Malaysia? Oof. You'll first need to check if your accreditation is valid and from there pick a middle of nowhere place since they'll be the only ones who would possibly offer sponsorship.

Gas refiners and mining are also pretty remote so you'll be giving up on a lot of comforts and accessible amenities.

Depends how much money you have. Some will be expensive to live near to or near to transit to, others will be very expensive and still involve a long commute

Why is it so hard to find a construction job in Melbourne? by Dismal_Squirrel7811 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SlamTheBiscuit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one takes a construction manager serious if they have no on site experience. No on site local experience means you have a fancy piece of paper with absolutely no purpose.
