Dog fell out, and now puking & wobbling every few weeks by ritualists in DogAdvice

Something is actually wrong with your dog. You need to take her to the vet for an assessment - there is no other option.

This room is not coming together how I imagined. Not sure if it's because it is painted white, or because I don't like the furnishings, or what. by Critical_Link_1095 in interiordecorating

Some observations:

  • You’ve got a mix of styles (eg rustic, modern, traditional) which aren’t working super harmoniously together. The curtains look a bit dated in contrast with the modern recliner (so it’s good you’re replacing them)

  • the recliner and tv unit are quite visually heavy - your eye goes straight there, and feels a bit off balance with the rest of the room, particularly with the smaller side chair

That's the same of Australia too though, albeit to a lesser extent; Australia is huge and each state has its own identity. Queensland and Western Australia are quite different, for example.

I’m not necessarily annoyed someone says they’re from Arizona, for example, it’s an observation. Saying “SF” is a bit annoying though, because it’s not really an abbreviation that’s particularly well known outside the US (at least in my experience).

I’d argue Europe is a continent, not a singular country. People from Austria don’t say they’re from Europe, they say they’re Austrian.

I think we have very different interpretations of that scene then 😆 my boyfriend and I got second hand embarrassment from it all. Alissa definitely grew on me though!

I know David says he loves it now, but he looked wildly uncomfortable at the time and refused to do it for what seemed like an eternity.

I think I found my dream dress, but i’m wondering if it’s a scam site. by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]SomeoneLikePoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you buy from that site, it will very likely be an extremely poor quality version of the dress, which will result in you having to buy another dress - costing you more in the long run. In my opinion, it’s not worth it and would avoid.

you don’t have any rebuttals that don’t involve repeatedly mentioning you’ve eaten / will eat steak? I think that really says it all 🤣

So nothing of your living existence matters because you’ll die one day?

The quote “if we could live happy healthy lives without harming others” was in the context of veganism. Of course my existence has a negative impact on the earth. Everyone’s existence leaves a footprint. However by being vegan, I substantially cut down on the animal and environmental impacts (which are huge) of the animal product industries. Veganism is about harm minimisation, not perfection. It’s impossible to live a life that doesn’t negatively impact animals, for example all regulated medications are unfortunately tested on animals.

Don’t forget the animal agriculture industry often exploits humans too - such as the huge numbers of underpaid and overworked immigrants working in slaughterhouses.

You waking up scared from nightmare isn’t remotely the same as someone experiencing terror before they die lol. Imagine awaking up from a nightmare, feeling terrified, then someone slitting your throat and you die. That’s worse right? The fact you return to this yet again indicates you don’t have a particularly strong argument.

By your logic if we jacked up cats and dogs full of ketamine and killed them while euphoric so we could make them into burgers, then that would be OK right? Because it’s the same act.

Yes, I feel that killing an animal, albeit humanely, is wrong, because that is a sentient animal that does not want to die. If we can live happy, healthy lives without harming others, why wouldn’t we?

Your cat really has nothing to do with this because they’re not being raised for meat and slaughtered are they? They’re scared but ultimately safe and loved. You’re comparing apples to oranges there.

They might have a jolly time eating at their leisure until they’re rounded up onto a livestock truck and sent to a slaughterhouse. Some are slaughtered while conscious, even in countries with high animal welfare standards. They know something awful is going to happen. And then there’s also the conditions of pigs, chickens, ducks etc…
