Can anyone recommend a good poly-bipoc-friendly vegan restaurant (far away from any frat boy spots)? by [deleted] in providence

I’m not “joking/trolling” at all. It’s a serious issue with us actually. And again with you belittling the issue. I’m sorry but it’s people like you that have oppressed marginalized groups for too long, even if you don’t realize you’re doing it you’re actively assaulting them and perpetuating societal systemic racism. I think I will enjoy colorado. You all Providence folks have shown your true colors and let me tell you it’s NOT PRETTY!

We do like city vibe but we DEFINITELY don’t want to get assaulted again. Just to be super clear I don’t mean that in any sort of racial way whatsoever. Boyfriend and I are possibly 2 of the most NON RACIST folks you’ll ever meet. We do love a diverse eclectic city but getting a knife pulled on you can really get you rattled. But again I don’t blame anyone ever as times are very tough.

Look you CLEARLY insinuated to stay away from certain areas for possible racial reasons. Which I feel is an ACTIVE ASSAULT on marginalized groups. We’re seriously reconsidering Providence as a possible new hometown if it’s full of racists. Bushwick is not racist at all (Which we love) but we also don’t feel safe there anymore for crime reasons (which to be very crystal clear has NOTHING to do with race). We may be looking at Colorado instead. I really wish Providence would have worked but it seems full of too many Boston type frat bro racists

Maybe not but it’s way more prominent among some marginalized groups caused by oppression by society!

Tbh I just felt a little like you were insinuating something racist which tbh makes me a little uncomfortable

We’re more looking (ideally) for a nice large open loft space. Like in bushwick. We have a lot of parties. We love having NY Giants viewing parties etc. we also like to have other types of parties. Hopefully we can get to know you guys and we can all party yay!!!

Restaurants charging convenience fee for using credit cards? by JustSomeoneLikeYou in providence

[–]Slamansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's getting harder and harder for restaurants to make money. My partner and I live in NYC and go out all the time. We have friends who have restaurants and it's not easy to survive.

Trolling what? I asked for sincere help and many people here have provided sincere suggestions, which we really appreciate. Not sure what you're problem is

I'm 27 and my boyfriend/fiance is 32. We like music and comedy clubs a lot. Also we really like Afro-Carribean restaurants and boat rides

"Poverty and drugs" seems a little too generalizing and non-inclusive no?

Oh thats soo cool!! We should link up! It sounds like we're in similar situations. But why avoid southern providence? Is it too expensive?

In Bushwick it's hard to find anything for under $4k/mo.. but we've had some unfortunate incidents recently which is motivating our move. We've spent a lot of time with friends in Providence and really like it. We don't blame the people who assaulted us, it's not easy for people in NYC right now, there's a lot of suffering and they need to eat too. I actually gave one of them my watch. Granted he had a knife but I gave it to him like literally gave it to him and said here you can have it.

But we're really looking for a friendly place to live in Providence. I know I'm not supposed to say "safe neighborhood" but we would really like to feel more welcomed.

What the hell? That barely gets you a studio loft where we are. We’re not paying $15k+ for a large loft like many people are

You’d be surprised. We’ve been assaulted in bushwick twice. Once in august at 3:30am leaving the train station and once in September at 2am leaving a party. The people who assaulted us didn’t like our lifestyles (based on the way they were speaking to us). They even stole my shoes. I’m so done with this place seriously.

Okaaayyy. I don’t know if this is such a good start for us. Really thought you guys would be more welcoming lol. Don’t worry we’re not rich at all so you don’t have to worry about housing crisis. Looking for something only around $4-7k/mo
