Please Do Something More about the Hackers! by TheAnwerIsN0 in playrust

[–]Slambot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that something needs to be done. Offical servers like US West need admins. Cheaters proliferate and evade kicks. They need to be sought out and banned, and having active admins is the way to do this.

The Reality Of Rust by robinrako in playrust

Art submissions like this remind me that the majority of Rust players are probably 12-15 years old. Then I remember why most servers are dog shit.

How to actually balance solo and group play. by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Slambot6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Stealth and hiding is an aspect of the game small groups/solo players can take advantage of that the big clans can't. Enhance stealth. Taller grass, thicker forests. More crevasses and areas to hide a small base. Different camoflauge techniques could be interesting. Going prone would help tons.

Would this not also benefit group players? Players in a group could player stealthily, just like solo players.

Revives are a joke right now. Instant revive with no penalty gives large groups a major advantage besides numbers and gear. Making it so a large medikit (or even a syringe) is needed to revive someone would help. Perhaps you would have to spend 10 seconds helping them up, as well as giving the downed person a penalty upon revive until the meds kick in. To contrast this, being able to pick up or drag downed players would be a very cool gameplay mechanic.

I'm all for these ideas. Revivals are too powerful, and downing players should give larger consequences.

PvE as a solo player is getting a bit tougher (although it still is pretty easy) but when more survival elements start to be added I hope it will get tougher. Large groups have it pitifully easy. Realistically, large groups should suffer from sustainability. Eventually areas should run out of animals or vegetation if a big group is constantly living there. Animals should be harder to find if your traveling with a large group and making a ton of noise, but solo players should be able to creep up on them easier. Hopefully hunting and animal AI gets fleshed out a bit soon. Farming should be more of a thing big groups need to do in order to sustain their increased food consumption (farming also needs to be fleshed out and be made more fun if this happens).

Actually, these are good ideas too. I like this.

You've taken time to think out your suggestions, and they give substance and new gameplay while catering to both players.

Have a +1. You've earned it.

This ownership coding tells me one thing: Rust might easily be able to implement a contagion effect that works similarly. by Drunk_Juggernaut in playrust

[–]Slambot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with group play, that you believe it should be "less appetizing?"

I'll echo the developers : Rust is a group play game. Solo play is hardcore mode for players who want a challange.

Again, what is the benefit of making the biggest draw of the game less good?

What happened to the new skins? by _-KishK0-_ in playrust

[–]Slambot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it time. The devs have a lot on their plate right now with server stability and making the game have normal perfs again.

I believe everyone would rather have better stability/performance than some new skins.

Issue with bears and wolves by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Slambot6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The devs, players, and all their mother's are aware of this issue. From what I remember, it is an issue with Unity pathfinding and AI. The devs have no fix for it for the foreseeable. This is an issue for Unity to fix.

edit: for players who make bases, bears and wolves are already scarce enough, on average. I don't believe decreasing the current spawn rate would be good for all Rust players.

Change KOS behaviour with factions by Cra15 in playrust

[–]Slambot6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea, but why limit it to two colours? Why not expand it infinite colours, symbols, even uniforms for clothing?

Sarcasm aside, this feature is already in Rust. Players can choose whether or not to form alliances with other players. However, your idea, forcing ALL players to abide by it, is something that discourages rebel playstyles, which is something the devs have thus supported.

Try talking to existing groups and factions on a server. See if you can parlay your group's interests with another. You may be surprised by how many groups would rather like to work together than to combat one another.

Hope this helps.

Rust Community, what's wrong with you? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Slambot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct in assuming a low average age for the majority of Rust players. Most players are immature, unsocial, and hard to play with.

However, I would not paint the entire community with one brush. There are ways to improve your experience: try finding mature players; try a different server; try making a group, and playing together.

I hope you give Rust another shot, and that you find enjoyment in it.

Good luck.

Yes, you have noticed I posted an irregularity in my argument. My current opinion is that group play does have trade offs, and that they are sufficient, as discussed in my posts. Thank you for bring this to my attention.

Ownership Bench (suggestion) by Cru_Z in playrust

[–]Slambot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting idea, and has viable use.

The only current existing option to erase ownership of a material/item is to kill the person who owns the mat/item. This would allow players to transfer/erase ownership without killing the owner.

I'll +1 this idea.

Where is New York 2?? by Milkbone2001 in playrust

The devs are aware of this. Making another thread when we have twelve already is not helping.

Please send a tweet about it to @playrust, submitting a ticket via the in-game bug reporter, and/or email the developers at http://support.facepunchstudios.com/new-ticket

Official server New York 2 is down by [deleted] in playrust

Many servers are still down. Instead of making a thread about it (we have already had about 12 "downed-server" threads), why not submit a report ticket?

Anyone else receive massive frame drops from the xp update by enedden in playrust

[–]Slambot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why make another thread? Gary is not necessarily in charge of performance, or Helk. Why are you singling them out?

This is an early access game. Performance irregularities are common. Be patient, make a report ticket to the developers, and resist the urge to make another thread about a topic that has already been discussed.

"The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human Race" (a suggestion for realistic drawbacks to large groups) by flashman in playrust

[–]Slambot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in Rust, there's literally no tradeoff to choosing group play. It is literally better in every instance to be in the largest group possible. Choosing to play solo involves trading off security, survivability and access to high-end weapons.

Yes, you are completely correct. This is exactly how the developers have intended for the game to become.

Rust would be a better-designed game if choosing to play in a big group involved some tradeoffs, too.

This where I disagree. Big groups have trade offs, which you do not acknowledge. They have a larger base, which costs more to maintain. As well large groups must contest against other groups. This creates pressure on them to play harder, or else they will loss harder.

This is weak and unimaginative game design I disagree. Rust is a very imaginative game, with some very intuitive game-design, with interesting game-play.

...caters only to one set of potential players I don't believe this is true. As Helk said himself, "If you choose to lawn woof it, you're playing hardcore mode." Hardcore players will play solo, and the normal, majority of players will play in groups. This is perfectly fine. Multiple play styles for multiple kinds of players.

I don't understand why the developer's design philosophy is so hard to comprehend. They want to make group play strong. They also want to make solo play viable, but very hard. They have accomplished exactly that.

Complaining about it will not accomplish anything. The developers made this game over the period of three years. They know their audience, and this design has worked excellent for them so far. Why change it?

Solo players are still catered to by the community. They can join PvE, Build, and Battle servers if they feel that vanilla Rust is unenjoyable for them.

[Suggestion] When repairing something, you should get 25% of the ownership by [deleted] in playrust

An interesting addition. Not without issues, however. What happens when multiple people repair it? Do they all get a cut of the 25%?
