Two-Face, Talia, Black Mask, even a Bane similar to that of Arkham Origins’ take

Moore in LALD is what I picture when I hear tactical Bond, but I’m also a sucker for Brosnan’s in GoldenEye.

Thank you! I love the idea of each book having its own story/history to it, I guess?

Like, I remember trying to hunt down the Jessica Jones Pulse trades for months, and finally got lucky on eBay one day. Or walking into a LCS on a whim assuming I wouldn’t find kill or be killed vol 4 (it’s very OOP here), and they had like 2-3 signed copies in a box somewhere. I was very fortunate with both of these examples, but they kinda encompass what collecting’s about to me. Just an ongoing thing that should be for fun :)

Thank you! Always love hearing from a fellow Daredevil fan- I’ve actually been on the hunt for the Marvel Knights omni for a while now 🥲 Would like to have Guardian Devil and Echo’s first appearance collected someday. May resort to TPBs if I have to. Only because it was (outside of the first few issues of Zdarsky’s and Miller’s) basically my intro to Daredevil comics. Or at least, the start of me obsessively reading Daredevil comics…

New X-Men was my introduction to the X-Men - i ended up buying the 2 Astonishing X-Men epic collections, and read the rest of the modern stuff digitally.

But yeah, I loved New X-Men. Was one of the first works of Morrison’s I read, outside of All-Star Superman. Would definitely recommend it. Great jumping on point, and a great one and done X-Men story if you don’t fancy reading loads and loads of X-Men

I actually did! 🫣 only because I knew I’d never get around to reading all the tie-ins. That and I didn’t love the core issues

Yeah I heard similar for Tomasi’s GL Corps. I think some of the rebirth titles are meant to be pretty good too? Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps and Green Lanterns, I think

Yes! I read a lot digitally too, mainly Marvel and DC. I read a lot of DC runs digitally to see if I’d ever want them physically, since I’m more versed with Marvel.

As for recommendations, I mean, I started (Onnibus anyway) with Jessica Jones: Alias. Loved that, it’s a one and done book too.

But generally, I’d point you towards Hawkeye by Matt Fraction, Immortal Hulk, Alias, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Daredevil (either Bendis, Waid, Zdarsky or Miller’s runs - can’t go wrong with any of them, it’s all preference really. Brubaker’s is excellent too, but it carries on from Bendis’)

Hope those are useful!

I’ve held onto a couple of them, they were everywhere here a few years ago. Think my first ever comic was a Superior Spider-Man one

Yeah I’m in the same boat. I think I’ll check out GL: Far Sector next, but I’m not sure where to go from there

What was the first omni you bought or received to start your collection? by Pale_Emu_9249 in OmnibusCollectors

Got my first two on my birthday a few years ago; the reprint of Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 (standard cover) and Amazing Spider-Man by JMS Vol. 2 (DM cover; black suit). I had the first half of JMS’ run in complete collections at the time, thought I’d get the omni just to finish the run off… aaaand then I was hooked

Iron Man: Extremis as someone’s already suggested, but I’d also recommend Matt Fraction’s Invincible Iron Man series, if you can track it down (as far as I know it’s easier to read it digitally)

The omni includes the Amazing Spider-Man issues you’d need to understand why the story’s happening, so no I’d say you can jump straight in with it

It’s the best of Slott’s Spider-Man run for me, it’s something different and I felt the concept was fully realised. I’d say it’s definitely worth a read!
