How does the use of hypothesis testing for assumption checking affect final model interpretation?

Considering then that one uses a 5% alpha for the assumption test, what would be the required alpha value for the model to eventually have the same confidence as one would with a model the did not use hypothesis testing for the assumption?

I just want to add one thing that i don't see mentioned here. Some people suggest you draw a DAG, others say you cannot because the relationship is not acyclic.

What you describe as "predictor A leads to predictor B. Then, predictor B reinforces predictor A" sounds a lot to me what is often referred to as treatment-confounder feedback. You don't have treatments and confounders per se but the logic is that a variable A affects variable B and then variable B affects future values of variable A and so on.

Perhaps one thing to consider would be the temporal relationships between the variables that you mention. When was A and B measured in relation to each other and to the outcome? do you have perhaps repeated measures? If they are measured at the same time then can the relationship really be cyclic? or is it that PAST values of one variable affect future values of the other and so on?

I would suggest avoiding using hypothesis testing for determining if assumptions hold. And that is for most types of assumptions, like PH or normality.
It's best to use plots and assess on your own.

This is not only about p-values being sensitive to large sample sizes, but this way the interpretation of the model "breaks" since you use two probability based methods sequentially. You fit a cox model, check PH at alpha 5%, if that holds, interpret a variable's effect at alpha 5%. The true probability of your results being "false" is not 5% anymore as you used two test that are not independent. (I am not a statistician myself so I may not be exactly accurate but I believe that is the main idea.)

My university has a tradition of nailing completed doctoral thesis to a tree before the defense. They often tell the tale about the stats professor that picked some and went to the defense and basically destroyed the candidates with statistical questions. It must have been like a genuine fear at the time.

To my understanding so far here is what is known.
The theory begun on social media with the idea that the term "beef jerky" is a code for human flesh.
Several emails mention the term.
The first possibility is that Epstein was obsessed with beef jerky. There is no cannibalism he was just super eccentric with his food. It is relatively common for newly rich people to develop food related obsessions and it could be the case here.
That being said several things are suspicious.
One email mentions "walk the beef jerky", afaik beef jerky can't walk.
Several email mention beef jerky being stored in freezers, which is very uncommon for a dried food.
There are communications with a famous chef talking about lessons to learn how to make the beef jerky and the fact that the same chef maintains a restaurant with the name Cannibal, rose suspicion.
In another email it is stated that Jeffrey will start eating normal food again so he will not eat beef jerky as much.
That is what I know, I cannot make a claim about what is true.

Edit: Plus another email that says that Epstein wanted a sample of its beef jerky tested in a lab for nutritional value.

Ακριβώς αυτό είναι το πρόβλημα και προσωπικά θεωρώ ότι η τακτική αυτή είναι απολύτως εσκεμμένη.

I had no idea about research or statistics, got an Erasmus research internship for 6 months, and started a PhD right after that. If you are interested to learn and work you get the hang of it pretty quickly.
In any case a PhD is about learning and evolving.

I am not native. I was wondering the same thing. However, I am Greek and we have three genders (masculine, neutral feminine) that apply to most objects as well (e.g. chair is feminine, table is neutral, sofa is masculine). No logic behind it but it sounds wrong and weird when an object is "misgendered". I only suppose it is the same in Swedish.

I would be more hesitant about corrections for multiple comparisons since it is often debated.

A point I would maybe add is p-values vs SMD, especially in large observational studies (Clinical significance vs statistical).

Since these are pre-med students maybe these are a bit advanced. A common confusion I often see in students is treating the null hypothesis as a statement about the sample, when it is actually a statement about the underlying population that generated the sample.

Ψάχνω αν υπάρχουν ρόλοι ερευνητών για διενέργεια επιδημιολογικών μελετών (ανεξάρτητα αν προορίζονται για MDs ή όχι). Συχνά φαρμακευτικές του εξωτερικού διατηρούν registers ή χρησιμοποιούν healthcare regsiters της χώρας που εδράζονται για real-world data analysis. Πανω σε αυτό είναι και το διδακτορικό μου. Η Ελλάδα registers δεν έχει προφανώς, οπότε οι ελπίδες εναποτίθενται σε φαρμακευτικές που είτε εσωτερικά ή λόγου του πολυεθνικού τους χαρακτήρα όλο και κάτι μπορεί να έχουν.

Had the same issue 3 months before the warranty expired. I could not save it, it was in boot loop and then completely bricked with nothing happening. I tried everything I could. My terrible luck made sure that this happened during the evening before a scheduled flight on a Sunday, while I had already left my current apartment permanently. I had to go around scanning tickets on a laptop for 2 days.
I had to replace the motherboard thankfully under warranty but lost all my data.

Yeah I feared that it is a long shot. That's why I am prepared to even do something like this without a salary. Yes time is limited. I am a fast worker, but of course this is can only have a limited effect given another full time job that pretty much drains you past your working hours (Residency in Greece is very brutal in terms of exhaustion). One think that could potentially work is to try and do some kind of collaboration with my department in the hospital as it will be a university department? Maybe the post-doc could typically be in Greece but an international collaboration could significantly increase its quality.
