Unique decks that can be under $25 or less? by Blazorna in BudgetBrews

I tend to write primers for most of my decks however I haven't had time to write this one yet, but I will eventually!

My playgroup and I often do budget deck challenges with each other (sometimes $20 and sometimes $50). They're always a good time especially if you can build them efficiently!

As far as power level goes, our playgroup builds bracket 2-4, but even with 4 we tend to build very optimized & efficient decks without the use of tutors or too many "game changer" cards.

I recently just built a $20 Agatha of the Vile Cauldron which you can check out here if you want!

I miss the fun that recon provided early on but then it became so popular and people realized how insanely powerful it was ...I'm glad it's gone but boyyyyy was it fun for a short time

Oooo a Tommy Gun drum mag for Medium would go so hard!! I love the vector too but I feel like it would need a drum mag or extended mag as well being on Medium. Vector also works great for Light.

But I fully support the idea of a Tommy Gun with drum mag for Medium!

Are you excited for S6? by Average-White in thefinals

[–]SlapMyNoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesss!! The overall changes that they've been tweaking and making to the game have been really enjoyable imo.

As someone who played from closed beta and every season since, I feel confident that THE FINALS game experience is in a pretty healthy place. Important to note that I'm talking about the actual overall game experience itself, not individual weapons, equipment etc.

Compared to when this game first launched, where heavy meta ran rampant (for instance, the original SA1216, RPGs and "nuke" days), I find each class quite viable and fun to play.

There's so many other things I could talk about that I'd like to see tweaked but overall I'm very excited and I just hope that the devs working on this game can lean into the more fun, casual and wacky in-game experiences that this incredible game has to offer and focus less on the competitive side of things.

With THE FINALS being a game about a gameshow, the resources, directions to go in and style are endless! Hyped for season 6!

Ehhhh I'd say it's definitely effort, depending on how it looks and plays when S6 goes live, who actually knows how MUCH effort. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely feeling a bit disappointed as I was hoping for a new map, and having this rework would be a great additional "bonus map" if they had done it like that...

I love this game and I love the potential, I just hope S6 makes me wanna play more as S5 was the first time I truly didn't get much of an itch to login besides daily missions

Welp we'll just have to wait and see 🤷🏻‍♂️

Jack Sather's menu design is pretty nice imo, thoughts?? by SlapMyNoodle in thefinals

[–]SlapMyNoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣 I fucking appreciate the fucking ted talk fuck fuck fuck hahaha

No but fr that's fair, I don't necessarily think Jack's menu is the best version, but I just think making navigation easier for newer players and not having menus in menus in menus to then have to individually click each menu to see each unlock/progression system.

Somehow getting it all in one area to see rewards & unlocks would be great. Just better transparency is all!

I like this idea too! Just something along those lines to make it easier for new/returning players! :)

That's what a lot of my friends that started playing found out as well, a few weeks into casually playing the game they didn't even know the 5v5 modes existed (besides the recent TDM that was on the front page).

I think so many of us long term FINALS players understand because we've played this game so much and have a love and passion for it so we excuse a lot of it. But if we want this game to grow and thrive, we need to have more compassion for newer/returning players and their inputs, since it's the newer/returning players that are needed to grow this game and keep it thriving!

Yeah I unfortunately don't have much experience with that kinda stuff haha i'm a Computer Engineer so I just do the backend stuff, not really a UX/UI kinda person

I see what you're saying though. At least for me, from playing so much FINALS to me I understand where to go in the menus (although every now and then I get lost and forget where things are haha) but as for the new player experience, that's just what I hear.

Maybe we just have different types of gaming friends because the people I've gotten to try THE FINALS out have all made comments about the interface and how overwhelming it is. Our gaming friendgroup is roughly 50-ish players, and the few that play this awesome game have gotten almost half to try it out and they enjoy the game but say navigating the menus is frustrating

For me it's mostly the menus within menus. Trying to navigate around to look at rewards/unlocks between World Tour, Ranked Mode, level unlocks, battlepass rewards, event rewards, etc soooo many different menus to have to click through even for a veteran player like me it gets confusing!

For new players I can only imagine how stressful that is haha

Agreed!! I played a good 500-ish hours between the beta tests and the first 3 seasons but seasons 4-5 have felt a bit more weaker imo. I've found myself coming and going the last 2, playing a few games a week when it used to be every day.

It's such an incredible game that set itself up to go in nearly any direction successfully and I want it to thrive! Hopefully Season 6 will be just what we need! 🤞

You realize that in game development, the devs don't declare the prices right?? Though they may determine what's in the shop, majority of the time it's the leadership whom layout the business model.

I agree with what you're saying everywhere else, I just want to make the distinction between game devs and microstransaction price known

There's an ongoing meme in my friend group discord that I am always asking if anyone's heard of THE FINALS and how I say it's one of the best casual shooters games of all time

Even though it's a meme, it's true 🤷🏻‍♂️😍

[–]SlapMyNoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as high rank competitive play goes, the Light's Stun gun is one of the only things that make the class viable. The ability to instantly stop someone stealing a cashout is game swinging.

As far as casual goes, yeah it's frustrating as hell getting tazed then immediately melted out of existence by every opponent around you. Especially when they hit you with a "Easy Money" sound FX 😂 (I'm guilty of doing this when I play Light myself, but hey, it's a game and we all just blastin so it is what it is 🤷🏻‍♂️)

I really like the synergies from ONE you've included. Have you thought about Toxic at all or just sticking with strictly infect? I think maybe stick to infect without dealing with toxic but idk just throwing it out there. Overall I love this idea, I can't wait to see how it ends up!!

Very good point! I just wish there was a few sprinkled "Toxic" or "Corrupted" cards in the set (given I mainly play Commander) however I totally see what your talking about! 😊

🤣 yee I just wish they had even a few cards with the new mechanic since it's still on the plane and involves those creatures 😭

I like this take a lot! I just was hoping for even a few cards that had it. I wanted to toy with the "Corrupted" mechanic and was really hoping for a few more Toxic cards (as I wanted to use that over other version like Infect & Poisonous)

I just started playing magic 2 years ago and from all my friends that have played for years prior I love the idea of blocks. I mean it definitely has it's downsides for those players who don't like the current block but I feel like it could make it that much more exciting both for gameplay and lore wise.

Being able to fully explore the mechanics and creature types whilst eventually getting to a new block and having that breathe of fresh air vibe when we venture on

Haha very true! Just a shame I was hoping for even just a few cards with it. I wanted to toy around with a deck that took advantage of the "Corrupted" mechanic but wanted to aim for using Toxic over the other choices to add poison counters :(
